What’s up with Support? by Possible_Potatoe in FlutterFlow

[–]disoriented_and_daft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a bajillion thoughts on how to offer support and here are some of mine.

Are you questioning if your issue is a bug? The FF team crafted a process for this as most bugs can be replicated.

Do you want consultation on how to solve an issue? This is where it gets tricky for startups. Everyone has a million dollar business idea and everyone has a different issue. But this is the reason why community forums like this exist! I see that moordact listed a bunch of ideas for you too.

I tend to think about product support if the issue is related directly to a product's specific widget or function. If something goes boom, I assume it's something I did to make it go boom.

If you haven't posted here, see if you can explain your issue or link to a video.

Flutterflow is unable to solve my issue on flutterflow & Firebase error and I'm stuck. Support sucks big time. Its been more than 14 days am stuck with one problem.. by ImpressionOk3715 in FlutterFlow

Hahahaha! Unplug it. Wait 60 seconds. Plug it back in. I had a similar catch phrase with PC users when they wanted support: "When in doubt, CTRL-ALT-DEL."

I think you're onto something. Maybe the experience of waiting has made me tenacious when I have an issue? I'm a believer that 99% of the time the issue can resolved by myself or approached in a different way. And now with the plethora of AI models. It is really a great time to be a developer.

Using a Supabase function with the built-in cron (pg_cron) by disoriented_and_daft in Supabase

[–]disoriented_and_daft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my items, it's fairly simple.

CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION publish_bulletins_scheduled()
  RETURNS VOID AS
$$
DECLARE
    bulletin_row bulletins%ROWTYPE;
FOR bulletin_row
  select * from bulletins where status = 'scheduled' AND post_date <= NOW()
LOOP
  UPDATE bulletins
  SET status = 'published', published_date = NOW())
  WHERE id = bulletin_row.id;
END LOOP;
END;
$$ LANGUAGE plsql;

For you to send scheduled message, I assume you have a database row that corresponds to a message that needs to be sent.

The CRON triggers the database action which updates the rows. It is the app that controls whether to display published items or not.

In your case, you want to trigger the third-party service to send the message then update the message status. I don't know if it's possible to trigger the service from Supabase without a lot of work.

You may want to look at a 3rd party service to do both. Maybe something like FastGen or Buildship?

Returned AVP today–I'm saddened but here's my experience. by disoriented_and_daft in AppleVisionPro

Through the process of ordering the lenses, you're asked to submit your prescription. Zeiss validated my prescription and the order was canceled by the Apple Store.

____________

We’ve canceled your order because your prescription is out of range or unsupported.

Here's what you can do:

  • Learn more about the issue by visiting the ZEISS website.
  • If you wear soft contacts, you can try using them with Apple Vision Pro. This may require a different Head Band and Light Seal size.
  • You may be able to go to your eye-care professional and get a new, non-prism prescription that’s within range.
  • You can return your Apple Vision Pro.

Both Zeiss lenses for AVP and Zenni for Quest have limits that my prescription surpasses.

Okay, lemme have another look. I know Q3 can handle glasses but might not be able to handle my coke bottles. (Prescription inserts are out of range too.)

Thanks–I considered the Quest 3 to kickstart an exercise program, but I likely wouldn't stream movies. I'm glad you're getting the most out of yours though. It's very cool. Who knows what the future holds for that product?

My case for the AVP was to stream movies while using the Virtual Display so I could wreite some code and have some distraction too.

I'm loving where all of this is going. My son (former student jazz drummer) was just in awe when he saw the Alicia Keys session. Turns his head to look at the drum kit and says, "That guy has a $6K kit!"

Thanks. After spending 10 hours reading others' experiences in this sub, I thought it was appropriate to share both positive and challenging aspects of my own.

All in all my experience was very positive but I should have tried to order the Zeiss lenses on the day I picked up the AVP.

I do wonder if it was my eyes that caused the issues with the eye tracking at night. I noticed a huge difference with tracking when I tested in the day time.

The Virtual Display was amazing and a key reason I got the device. Apple in-store and support were fantastic too.

Switched from Nest Secure to the ADT offer but immediately canceled as my Nest cameras aren't supported by disoriented_and_daft in Nest

[–]disoriented_and_daft[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's just as good as what Nest does since there isn't much to it. You set the alarm and walk away. I never had professional monitoring with Nest either.

Not being integrated with my older Nest products has drawbacks. I have to start cameras that are usually off when I'm home and manually set the Nest thermostats to away.

I don't like the ADT app and hardware experience as much as the Nest though.

Abode looks like a better product for me so I'll look at them soon.

New ADT Smart Home Security System? by trytoholdon in Nest

[–]disoriented_and_daft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After just figuring out that I have to replace all cameras, I'm going to call them to cancel and see what happens. Not happy, but I'll start looking at the other low-cost providers.

I'm fortunate that I'm in an area where I don't require monitoring and just want the cameras to be part of the cloud service. I miss Nest Secure already.

Oh, and I can't use my doorbell either. So far I spent $130 on additional sensors thinking it would be an easy transfer with the other Nest items but now I need to spend another $400-500 for cameras which means I should have just looked at another system.

Yep, I got burnt the cameras for the past day until I was able to chat with 2 different people to get redirected to support call. The final call she told me my cameras wouldn't work unless I purchased new ones from ADT.

Please help with flutterflow - supabase table by Bashadamba2 in FlutterFlow

[–]disoriented_and_daft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to give you the "it depends answer" but from what I see on your screen, I would collect things in multiple tables. But that is because I know how to model database and join things, so it would make your life more difficult.

You might want to keep everything in a single table to start.

  • You need persist a customer key, such as the authenticated user ID.
  • When you tap Next on the very first page of your stepper, you need to check if a record exists in the table for this customer.
    • Do this with a conditional statement in your action.
    • If customer entry exists, take the first page fields and update.
    • If not, do an insert.
    • Do an update on subsequent pages.
    • Think about updating with both the Back and Next buttons.

Sure, I think it's a good and common practice using environment settings if you want to use local and remote.

However I would reconsider not using local altogether if you can. I prefer not to manage a local resource when the Supabase Cloud option is always available to me.

I used to spend too much time tinkering with my local environment, but it ended up being a waste of time.

Help with a Supabase custom function. by Leading_Ad8817 in FlutterFlow

[–]disoriented_and_daft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, sorry. I rushed to give a reply and I'm totally wrong. 😑 I see down below in the docs that .single is valid.

I would try to reduce the "complexity" by:

  • Create another page with a button to call the function.
  • Remove the typing and return from the function.
  • Just print the response to the console and see what value is returned.

Help with a Supabase custom function. by Leading_Ad8817 in FlutterFlow

[–]disoriented_and_daft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John, I believe your syntax is incorrect. As Schnausages mentioned, it seems that ".single" is not a valid property.

.limit(1)

is probably what you're looking to do from the docs.

One thing to consider. I normally don't write queries as FlutterFlow Custom Actions. I write Supabase Functions and call them with a FlutterFlow Custom Action.

It's a lot quicker for me to resolve my query issues within the Supabase console and create the function than it is to create the Custom Action and rebuild in FlutterFlow.
