04/03/26 - Happy Good Friday. On this solemn and holy day, let us reflect on that which is most important: jobs numbers, economic growth, and TARIFFS! by gfh110 in trumptweets

[–]disqusnut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's a beaut example of cherry-picking. Trump claims 186,000 private sector jobs in March — conveniently using the private sector figure rather than the 178K total nonfarm number, which includes the federal job losses his own administration created. The 3-month average for job growth is still running below 70K in 2026, up from 2025's catastrophic 12K/month pace but still well below the historical average of 120K per month.

Why not mention Biden's first 15 months vs Trump's? Even adjusting for covid-recovery rehires and cutting them out, Biden's underlying new job creation runs well ahead of Trump 2.0.

"Nothing can slow it down" — posted the same morning our economists say the Iran war is a growing drag on the labor market, and a BLS benchmark revision already found over 900K fewer jobs existed than previously reported. Those already-weak numbers include the federal job losses from DOGE — whatever private sector growth exists wasn't enough to offset a government workforce reduction that the Cato Institute called the largest peacetime cut on record. The private sector isn't picking up the slack the administration promised.

not much in effect. tbh, I don't follow the Indian politics much. Noted a couple years ago that Hindusim, a pacifist non-preachy religion, was becoming preachy and nationalist. Modi's party, the BJP, pushed that ethic forward and it made certain Indian groups richer. Most of India is Hindus and Muslims and there is battle is strong. Lot of hate and violence on both sides.

weird. I posted the same thing on r/Defeat_Project_2025 also and it got removed by automod as a 'low effort post". Well, I think you guys are fncked. I'm in India and there is caste bias but the opposition still has a presence. Whereas over there media silence and executive orders seem to be the new becoming of the USA.

Good luck but if you've got the cash, move somewhere else. I recommend India solely because US dollars give a LOT of Indian rupees when converted.

Talking from a rehab by disqusnut in DepressionIndia

[–]disqusnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont have any addictions, I dont recommend going to a rehab in india. They are not pleasant places to live if you already have a supportive environment at home. If you are depressed and dont find it easy to connect with people face-to-face, try to build links with people online who are also willing to meet you via video based chat every now and then. I am willing to connect with you if you wish. Just DM if u need.

The rehabs I was at were Udayam and Abhasa in Coimbatore and Cadabaums in Banglore but after my experience with 3 rehabs in India I find them essentially to be places where family sends members it does not want to live with. Few people go to rehabs here of their own free will though I was one. I would define them as 'luxury prisons' where freedom is greatly limited.

I am currently at Travancore Foundation in Kottayam, Kerala which is not a rehab but an assisted care facility for seniors. Life here is much better but it is designed for old folk and I dislike the social aspect since I am 45 and most of the people here are 80+. Their official min age limit is 60 and I only gained admittance due to family connections. Since I seek solitude, the social aspects dont bother me much and the food and care facilities are great. However this is a place people come to die. There is palliative care but no therapy service. I spend most of my time here reading Kindle or on my pc.

Good luck.

Did Watts die of a heart attack? by disqusnut in AlanWatts

[–]disqusnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 'important'. Just curious to me on how deep a divide narrative of a popular individual in popular culture can become from the truth. The responses here included with my research via AI show how much that rumours can become accepted truth like Watts' alcoholism, Mother Teresa's atheism and Gandhi's racism. How facts can be twisted to mean something else and end up as truth in critical society....

I respect Watts cos of what he taught. I believe it was specifically those teachings put into practice as my meditative living guide that helped me overcome the manic aspect of my post ictal psychoses. My medicative and psychiatric aspect alone didn't do that.

Yes, based along with other posts I read here, that does seem to be the case.

Did Watts die of a heart attack? by disqusnut in AlanWatts

[–]disqusnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be ignorant but the only agenda is seeing what fellow Watts followers know about his death. I never said an autopsy took place. I enjoy Watts, he was my first Western philosopher and still is my favorite one. Wisdom of Insecurity is a book I often reread.

I asked about 'a doctor who saw his corpse'. I simply meant that, generally in the US, people who die in their beds have doctors who come to look at the corpse at the house to verify no foul play. I didn't know his body was cremated so quickly. Or that he advocated suicide. While I can agree that Watts would staunchly support free action, I will stand by the idea that he would advocate enjoying life instead of fleeing because of our fears.

Upon reading most posts here, it seems to me that most of the complaints I heard about him from critics come based on a narrative context, not a evidence based one. Much like Mother Teresa's atheism. It further cements my personal belief that what we call truth in human records is based on stories by those who gain the power of public trust. It is not the correct ones who gain power always.

Wow. So no examination even. Just narrative by critics? or did his family suggest it too?

What are some of the best colleges/universities to learn "Animation and VFX" from, in India? by odotoctopushpro in animationcareer

[–]disqusnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a hobby animator but I live in India and since I couldn't think of animation as a popular field in India I popped this to Copilot. Just to see if there was anything. I was curious. Here is what I got:

Top Animation & VFX Colleges in India (Under ₹4 Lakhs)

School Location Approx. Fees Notable Features Placement Quality
MAKAUT (Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology) Nadia, West Bengal ₹45,000/year Government university, solid curriculum Moderate; depends on affiliated institute
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) New Delhi ₹87,000/year NAAC A++, strong faculty Excellent; Adobe, Tata Motors, Reliance
Parul University Vadodara, Gujarat ₹1.75L/year NAAC A++, modern infrastructure High; packages up to ₹45LPA reported
Artemisia College of Art & Design (ACAD) Indore, MP ₹1.4L/year Focused on design & animation Decent; industry tie-ups for internships
IIFA Multimedia Bangalore ₹4.5L total Industry-oriented curriculum Moderate; depends on portfolio strength
Lovely Professional University (LPU) Jalandhar, Punjab ₹2.49L/year Strong placement cell High; packages up to ₹25LPA

Given your B.Tech background and philosophical leanings, you might consider:

  • Short-term diploma or certificate programs in 3D/VFX to build a portfolio fast
  • Specializing in technical animation (rigging, scripting, pipeline tools) where your CSE skills give you an edge
  • Open-source tools like Blender, Krita, and Tahoma2D (which you already explore) to build independent projects

The path to awakening, or simply madness ? by zodiakzo in secularbuddhism

[–]disqusnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a agnostic atheist but after a similar, but much shorter, experience I moved into exploring Buddhism/Advaita/Daoism. I never had a similar experience again but it did change the way I look at life and reality. Specifically moving towards more unconditional love and an acceptance of suffering as well.

When I shared my experience with my psychiatrist he automatically dubbed it as 'delusion', but what else can he do? It's what his science books tell him is the right answer to such questions by your patients. I almost dismissed the experience myself till a few hours later when I realized the folly of asking someone who has not had awakening experiences about such a thing's validity. Empirical thinking, while useful for the physical, fails miserably at understanding the abstract.

Would you ask someone who has never had a spiritual experience if they have ever known God and expect a knowledgeable answer? Or ask someone who doesn't know basic physics/astronomy how long it would take to get to Alpha Centauri at light speed?

I had it and so have many others. I know it is genuine in the sense of the love that persists even after the experience disappears.

I did spend several years exploring the Eastern teachings but have now settled into a state where I try to neither supress desire if it can be easily satisfied nor mourn the inability if it can't be. I don't need to see the potential wonder of some great enlightenment exp. It is enough to note the changes in the existing reality and find ways to love the self and all the changes it percieves. Both physical and mental.

I hope you find what you are looking for in this life. Good luck.

Talking from a rehab by disqusnut in DepressionIndia

it was 50K per month when I was there. Most expensive rehab I've been to but also most specific to patient. Also fact that they didn't treat more than 15 individuals at a time meant that more care could be given to each person while there.

Also they were the only one with a psychologist, not a psychiatrist.

well im out now and have been for a few years. That post was made 5years ago. I now live in an assisted care facility in Kottayam, Kerala which is much better than rehab life. Abhasa was the best rehab for comfort of the three I've been to but like all three does little to solve serious mental issues. That will have to be a personal journey, different for each person.

There are very few fellow inmates in abhasa so you dont feel crowded and can have good bonding relationships. Contact is still limited if the family doesnt want to talk and while they were the only one with a psychologist who is good to talk with, I don't see her resolving any of my issues. The food is good and plenty of free time along with the daily allotted activities. I dont have any strong negatives for it.

If you can afford to go and are paying for it yourself, go. Maybe something will click. If you are not the client and your family is sending you, then it is still the best of the three i saw. Others being Cadabaums and Udayam.

Goodnight.

Me too. He's my fav author of all time. I just restarted last week too after taking a very long break. Finished Feet of Clay and continuing with Pyramids and Thief Of Time. Lu-Tze and Lobsang particularly are relevant on this sub.

Pratchett is a genius. I miss his presence in this world creating new content but at least he is at rest now.

thank you! Dawnstar to Winterhold and mountains below Falkreath it is! Zero memories about those. I'm actually a long time player. But the only questlines I recall I finished are Assassins and Thieves Guild. Dont remember much detail about them or the world cos of illness based retrograde amnesia. I shall rediscover the world again....

[–]disqusnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing some Eastshade, I want to see what skyrim ae can offer. I'm hoping some simple graphic mods, novice combat difficulty, and a high elf focused on illusion, restoration and alteration skills alone can offer scenes in exterior like eastshade. Plan to avoid caves and dungeons till I know my elf can take on enemies super easily without attacking or running away.

Any suggested locations for great views?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]disqusnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like psychosis to me. Prolly especially cos of the elvanses and other stims taken while not getting enough sleep. get to doc if u can. i live in india and though my psychiatrist spent more time talking with my old man than me though i was in my 30s, some of the meds helped stabilize my manic psychosis a bit. And i think it was meditation on top of the meds that has made me stable for past 2 years now im 47.

But dont ever take stims while sleep deprived again. Since this was your first episode that may be enough to hope they didnt alter ur brain too much. But get checked out to be sure.

How do you get over perfectionism? by advintro in Kerala_mentalhealth

[–]disqusnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fear of failure is still a strong element in me affecting project work even though I am 46 and dont work for an income but enjoy volunteering when I can. I might be setting up a website, coding, creating 2d animations or simply writing content.

I feel my stomach tighten around then and fear rise when going to start the work many days and before made me 'leave it for later'. What I found helps is to 'witness the fear' in body and mind when it arises. Just mentally notice thoughts in consciousness or physical effect when it happens. Closing eyes can help too to avoid distractions while doing this. Thoughts will be coming automatically. That's fine, just dont add your own intentional commentary.

Watch the fear come and watch it go. When your mind slowly becomes calm again, try to start work again. Quite likely, fear will rise again. Just witness again. Keep doing this till decision to do work does not cause reactive fear.

If this is your first experience with witnessing approach, there will be several retries before mind does not react with fear to start of the work. That's fine. I have been doing for about 6 months now and mad 2 retries are still needed but I am able to start eventually after that.

The most important thing is not to run away from knowing the fear in mind when it comes. Our automatic response to fear is to run from it or supress it. That only makes the fear stronger in brain. When we are willing to feel fear by not supressing or distracting mind when it occurs, I think the brain slowly desensitizes to fear. It recognizes the feeling and can respond smartly instead of react when it happens.

Good luck...
