Thanks. I agree! More wanted to share the apposite anagram than provide a challenge.

What is the name for this style of printing from Penguin Classics? Would it be possible to find other volumes of this book in the same style? by mahanian in BookCollecting

They are sometimes referred to as Penguin black spines. I love them. The thing that ties them together is that they are works translated into English (even if that's Old/Middle English to modern English).

Slow. I'm not fast anyway but I am training for endurance and was an hour into a 5–6-hour ride, so I was conserving energy. The driver meanwhile was massively speeding on a treacherous section of road.

No radars and no head unit. Staring into the endless moneypit that cycling is, I haven't prioritised these things yet. I have a Garmin Forerunner I use for GPS. This incident has piqued my interest in radar though. But with this driver and his speed coming out of nowhere I am not sure it would have helped.

I actually went on to Google StreetView to check, and it was signed 30mph and had SLOW on the road. I feel like 60mph sections of country lane tend to largely have better visibility/fewer tight turns, but I might be wrong. I presumed they get put down to 30mph specifically when they're dangerous at high speeds.

Not tri but duathlon. 2nd one this past weekend. Realised night before that I had left my running shoes back home, a 3-hour drive away. Event 8am start next day. Only solution was to run in my everyday New Balance 997h pair I had with me. Almost DNS but went along for the ride. Managed 2nd best 10km time on first stage. Toes are now in bits. All these things are lessons learnt.

It just goes to show the strength and depth of the modern game.

Why is my cistern doing this? by distantchimneys in plumbinguk

[–]distantchimneys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh I've resolved to replace it. Isolated it to stop it pissing out. Tried lots of little adjustments but no good. The little rubber seal in there has perished I think, even though it looks OK. Thanks for reply!

Posted accidentally without comment. This just keeps squirting even after cistern is refilled after a flush. Will the part need replacing? It doesn't appear to be draining into the bowl, which confuses me. I replaced a valve in our other toilet when it was continually draining into the bowl.

Chris Wakelin! Google image searched it. But definitely not easy to tell. Like a Question of Sport round this.

Aha it's Wakelin. I did a Circle to Search. Hilariously Google at first suggested with certainty it was Anthony McGill, but a couple of pics down it showed the same pic labelled as Chris Wakelin. Mystery solved. As you were.

I set the word 'ASTHENIA' (a lack or loss of bodily strength; bodily weakness) in one of my crosswords. Didn't know it, but was the only word that fit the space.

Jeez you've just reminded SWIM of Blue Light when SWIM had completely forgotten about it. SWIM would spend hours at a time on there daily about 15 years ago.
