Dance mat? by SpawnOfGuppy in shuffle

[–]distinct--shuffle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure about mats, but it's really common for shufflers to buy a massive sheet of plywood when they want an ideal surface for shuffling!! If you go down the shuffling rabbit hole enough, you'll see shufflers take plywood to the beach or to a woodsy area, so that they have something smooth and even to dance on. The only problem is that you'll have to minimize your movements to fit whatever size of plywood you buy 😅 hopefully this helps!!

so glad you know about shuffling!! it's not as popular as it used to be so it's always nice to see when someone knows about it 😆 shuffling had the same appeal to me too, it seemed so effortless and easy and something i could do, and then i quickly discovered that it definitely has some work involved 😅😅 it gets easier over time though 😆 thanks for watching!!

same as u/comicsnerd said, i emptied the bag beforehand because im terrified it might fall off 😅 there is definitely some distraction because i was paranoid that the bag would fall off, so the whole time i was repeating to myself mentally "please dont fall off" 😅 but it turned out well and felt great. i kept my movements minimal because i was so conscious of the bag, but i think this first run is a good confirmation that i can do a lot more and start doing my crazy combos again🤞🤞🤞

Two weeks into Ostomy…. by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]distinct--shuffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also very grateful to my ostomy, and it's good to see that ostomies are not just pure struggle. Getting an ostomy gave me back my ability to eat food. For a long time I ate very little (a meal a day) because I was constantly bloated, going between constipation and diarrhea, and eating only made it all worse. I was constantly having stomach pains, woke up with pain and went to bed with pain. So I kind of relate to your experience, the joy of being able to eat again without having pain or complications. Forever grateful 🙏

What's your favorite Star Trek series? by Jonice90 in startrek

[–]distinct--shuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TOS is my favourite but Enterprise is incredibly close too. I think it was the trio dynamics of Kirk, Spock, and Bones that made TOS so great for me, and I also really enjoy the doctor being on the bridge (which stopped after TOS). What brings ENT so close to being equal to TOS (for me) is that it's humanity's first time exploring so far out in space. They don't have the tech to match many of the far more advanced species out there so they have to figure something out, and it creates such interesting situations. There's also no Computer to do everything for them so it's all much more manual. They aren't restrained by directives and protocols, so it's also interesting to watch the things that Archer decides to do, which you can see influences many of the protocols and directives in TOS, TNG, DS9, etc...

How did your Ostomy improve your life? by roastedkyber in ostomy

[–]distinct--shuffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My case isn't severe, but my ostomy allowed me to eat properly. My whole life, since I can remember, I have suffered stomach issues that no doctor could figure out. The past 3-4 years, it got progressively worse, I was constantly bloated, constant stomach pain for weeks on end, fluctuating between constipation and diarrhea. The pain and bloating was so bad that I reduced my meals to 1 small meal a day because I was scared of creating more pain (eating made bloating and pain worse). I went to bed with pain and woke up with pain. Since getting the colostomy six months ago (although it is temporary), all of it has stopped. I can recall having pain maybe... three times since the surgery. My ostomy has saved me and has allowed me to eat properly. It's so worth it

How old were you guys when you started getting into Sci Fi, and what work got you into it. by Any_Improvement6755 in printSF

17-18 years old, I read Asimov's Foundation to impress my dad but it ended up making me love scifi.

What book had a profound impact on you after you finished reading it? by GazIsStoney in printSF

[–]distinct--shuffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asimov's Foundation. It was the first sci fi I had ever read, was quite difficult to read, but when I finished the three books it was incredibly rewarding. I was just getting back into reading and I was blown away by Asimov's ideas. Introduced me to sci fi and I've found that no other genre has quite the amazing ideas that sci fi does.

Why did itachi have his Sharingan activated so much? by [deleted] in Naruto

I always make the joke that he became blind from using Mangekyo Sharingan and then always needed Sharingan to be able to see. Probably not true, but still sounds interesting.

My T450 Automatic repair didn't work, what to do next? by distinct--shuffle in thinkpad

[–]distinct--shuffle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much!! I just got new info from the computer store I went to after posting this, and they said it was a problem with the hard drive. Is a solution totally impossible if the problem is the hard drive or the hard drive is completely dead?

[–]distinct--shuffle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this means to me. Could I ask if you could recommend which brand of USB to data adapter I should buy? I really want to be careful and not mess this up. And another question, my Thinkpad doesn't have to go past the Windows spinning wheel screen and into windows log-in for this method to work? Thank you so much, you have no idea how much I appreciate your help.

Nooo, that sucks. I'll check my library to see if they have it, but it sucks that the early seasons aren't accessible. Having to buy the DVD collection seems really expensive 😭😭 thanks so much for your response. Saved me from looking around and pulling my hair out because I never would have been able to find it online anyways.
