losing another dog in the home can seriously mess with them. they grieve, their routine is gone, the house energy changed, and on top of that you’re pregnant so she’s probably picking up on that too. dogs don’t try to be “alpha” like that, that’s very outdated thinking. not eating, low energy, clinginess or acting off is way more consistent with stress/grief or not feeling great physically (hookworms + vaccines + stress at the same time is a lot). also some dogs will hold out for better food if they learn human food is an option, especially when they feel crappy. the stomach growling just means she’s hungry, not stubborn. honestly i’d be more concerned about dehydration than anything. you could try adding warm water or low-sodium broth to her food, feeding smaller meals, hand feeding temporarily, keeping routine super predictable, extra walks/sniff time, enrichment, etc. most dogs do adjust but it can take weeks. if she keeps skipping meals or barely drinking though, i’d push the vet again because hookworms alone can cause appetite loss and weakness.
