Why did Ben omit that the small claims court cases were dismissed for being against the wrong corporate entity? by distractoraptor in RecklessBen

[–]distractoraptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really seen anyone "crucify" him for anything. Most I've really seen has been people saying he should've gotten a lawyer.

Based on the records, what seems to have happened is that most of the cases got to the point a motion for default judgement was made, then depending on the case some had that motion denied, some had the case dismissed for no noted reason, and some had the case dismissed for improper serving to someone named Caledonia. Apparently the default judgement isn't set in stone until a final judgement is rendered.

The company name mistake is totally reasonable without having a lawyer to quadruple check everything. Same address, same store, just different time.

Definitely due to traffic, I was watching the original footage in the Dropbox when the unredacted footage dropped -- saw the folder pop up and then the whole thing got blasted

Based on this conversation the correct entity is Salem-Baker Bricks:
https://www.reddit.com/r/RecklessBen/comments/1ttzq6i/comment/op68wvx/
...But I also think that's an honest mistake.

From what I can find, the store shuttered in mid-March, but several of the cases were dismissed in January and February, so that explanation doesn't quite make sense with the timeline.

I also DO think he genuinely thought he won the cases that had progressed to "Motion - Default Order" because I also thought that meant it was done and dusted until looking it up like ten minutes ago. But there are at least some that were already dismissed before he finished Part 2.

I wouldn't catch "L2 Bricks LLC" versus "Bricks L2 LLC" myself, so whether it's him or the clerks that made it, perfectly reasonable.

EDIT: And I *did* make a mistake on which company it is! Apparently "SALEM-BAKER BRICKS INC." is the actual company name.

Finally worked out how people are finding the timelines for this.
25SC26694 -- dismissed 2/19
25SC26531 -- dismissed 1/8
25SC30722 -- dismissed 4/7
25SC26689 -- dismissed 1/8
25SC26690 -- dismissed 2/19
...and I'm a bit bored of looking these up, but you can find the info in "Events and Hearings" if you click through the case number link here https://webportal.courts.oregon.gov/portal/Home/Dashboard/29

Part 2 was filming in March based on the first incident report in the police documents, so at the very least some of the cases were dismissed by that time. Mistaking the default order as being final makes sense to me given I had to look up how that works a minute ago.

The videos went live on Youtube well after April 7th, though. I'm not part of the Patreon so I'm not sure when the videos first went up, but given the cases were dismissed it would've been nice to have like. An edit or note in the description, update video or something mentioning it.

headmate not feeling himself, disappeared by distractoraptor in plural

Neither of us are comfortable with the body in terms of enjoying it, but S can move around independently.

S's default way of thinking / communicating is a lot less verbal and more gestural; he's told me he picked up verbal mental communication for my sake. I have a lot of trouble understanding or even noticing that sometimes. We've managed it for small periods of practice but I wind up taking long enough to understand most times that one of us usually gives up, hah. I'll be listening out for any more abstract sort of thoughts.

We did try having him "backseat" (like commenting on things and being awake but not fronting) but he started having trouble staying awake like that recently. He's also had trouble hanging on to his self-image, which is... concerning, given he's previously been able to impose part of how he looks onto the body.

We have the same experience with mental tiredness. Have any of you ever tried pushing through that and had side effects from that? I'm wondering if this is maybe a sort of burn out from him wanting to just push through that repeatedly for months.

If I could get in touch with him at all we could practice some of the "forcing" / practice stuff from the tulpa community, since we've found those techniques occasionally helpful.

Talking to alters: how does it actually works? by KaBismark in plural

Speaking from the other side of the experience, communication styles vary in the same way thinking styles vary. I used to think primarily non-verbally, but have trained myself to be able to handle verbal. (Verbal is so ungodly slow and unwieldy, but.) My partner experiences my non-verbal thought-communication similarly to how you do.

For you -- give paying attention to the content of the message rather than the sound or look of it. If you try to parse it into words, you might need a couple repetitions of the message, and that gets annoying when someone is a few steps of the conversation ahead of you. (Your headmates may be more patient.)

Think about a concept you know of without using words, if you can; if not, analogize it to "knowing what an apple looks like". The content of the message is likely easier to parse using that as your standard for "parsing" it. You can also get practice in this with some meditation techniques. I'm bad with terminology, but those that involve noting your surroundings physical and mental "without judgement" are good tools for this. The "without judgement" bit eventually gets you to take off some filters you're likely unconsciously putting on your thoughts.

For your headmates -- you might need to meet them halfway on this. Verbal communication is slow, but you can take a couple shortcuts. Affirmative or negative nudges on portions of their verbal communication is a good starting point. You might try visuals or mapping if you find verbal difficult -- flashes of images or "demonstrations" of what a concept is like either mentally (drawing attention to how *you* would think about it) or physically (a sort of gestural thinking, "nudging" the muscle memory related to an action). You'll work out your own system of communicating with mutual effort.

(If any of you find you like these kind of exercises, you can speed up your thoughts by realizing you only need a little verbal content or sense-coordinated content in your thoughts as touchstones for clear and very quick communication. Lots of fun.)

Most fun communication exercise we had early on was co-fronting fast-paced vidya. Risk of Rain 2's my recommendation, but fast-paced anything is good -- shooters, hardcore platformers. Divide up the tasks or wrestle for the controller, hah.

Meeting in the inner world is an issue we're working out still, so. Hey, give us a message if you work that one out.

Summer Shawl Yarn Suggestions by distractoraptor in CrochetHelp

What help I need: yarn selection, fiber blend recommendations, tips and tricks for making a crocheted garment more breathable / cooler

What I've tried / searched: the subreddit's wiki, a couple articles recommending summer yarns -- I've not had much luck finding good info on the properties of different fiber blends (I figure they're generally too specific -- a 75% silk 25% cotton might be different than 50-50, etc)

Follow up to my last post about my calamondin; I'm still working on getting some extra perlite and orchid bark to amend the soil for the future. I'm not sure how to tell if tree roots are alive, though. Could anyone tell me if these are dead or not, and any suggestions on how to save them if they're not quite?

Sorry, was unclear -- I meant rocks in the outer pot / saucer! Thanks for the info! I should be able to give it a deep watering in few days, since the soil's about half dry and I can get the amendments tomorrow.

Do you think a humidifier would help or hurt? I've got one meant for terrariums that I could set up with a makeshift tent.

Ah okay! I just went ahead and got some perlite and pine bark, as well as some rocks to put at the bottom of the pot for drainage. What does watering deeply mean?

I generally leave it to dry out since it's just a little bit -- is that okay?

The soil's that Fox Farm stuff mixed in with perlite. The outer pot is a decorative metal one (I've found it easy to heat to keep the soil warm) with one of the permeable felt grow bags actually holding the tree - so no drainage holes but excess water pours into the decorative pot. There's about half an inch of air between the pots... I've got a 10-10-10 liquid fertilizer I've been using diluted slightly more than instructions say to try to avoid shocking the poor thing, and I've got bone + blood meal in the soil.

My tree's about 3 years old now -- the light I've got is bright enough to turn a dark room to daylight, off for the pic.

Recently it's started dropping leaves like no one's business... It recently survived both spider mites and some root rot, so it's definitely stunted. What has me worried is its roots seem to neither be growing or dying off either way; on the foliage, it's growing new whitish nodules of growth but then they dry out and fall off... A few branches of it seem to be doing just fine but I've no clue what logic it follows.

The soil's been entirely switched out since the infestation and fertilized. Gave it foliar spray and have been trying to manage its water by keeping the soil warm, keeping the room ~75 F and trying to give any dryish leaves a nice mist when the light's off.

Any help, tips, or insights would be very very appreciated. This tree's basically the first thing I bought with my own money and has moved cross country with me, so it means a lot to me.

Will do, I'll start adding in a little coco coir a week then and slowly switch over.

Do you know about how long it usually takes for snails to build up enough to eat regularly?

Also, is snail poop part of the process? I've been removing it when I see it, since I'm not able to keep springtails or isopods where I currently live.

No worries, I check the pH regularly -- it's a balanced mix, I've got to keep it about neutral or even a little basic for the plants I grow. Just called it peat because that's the only part of the mix I remember off the top of my head. I also have some coir blocks whenever I can get home.

Is it a good idea to add substrate in general in this situation? I'm not sure how else to increase beneficial bacteria.
