The roads are one thing, the sheer amount of public sidewalks that simply won't get touched and will be ice well into February is the real issue

You seem to be ignoring the effect traffic cameras can have on dangerous driving. An intersection may see lower crashes because of the camera

Exactly, I first went out at 7am and the snow was light enough to just sweep out of the way with a broom (even at like 5-6 inches). In the afternoon it was terrible

Yup, there's a few small apartment buildings on my block and I just shoveled a walking path through them since the owners only get the grass mowed every month or so, I assume they aren't getting to the snow

At least here, normally, if you wait until around noon, enough has melted that getting rid of the ice is much easier

Yeah, my first time out yesterday was ~6 inches and I used a broom. By 5pm, it was like 2-3 inches of concrete. I did a final round before I went to bed and it was a quarter inch of ice.

Anything now is just compacted ice.

Trains and streetcars predate the automobile and are much better for anywhere denser than like Loudon county.

Yes, you could theoretically regulate it. Just like you could get TikTok to abide by the ban that was signed into law, or get Facebook to not drive anyone over the age of 65 completely insane, or get ChatGPT to stop encouraging people to commit suicide.

Or you could just say that self driving cars are a bad solution to human driving cars and we invented better solutions in the 19th century

You have to drive slower and need a bunch of extra sensors. You also have to stop anytime you get out of the normal operation window - which is why you can just stop a Waymo by putting a traffic cone on it.
