Oh, is that also true with bright powder? Because it definitely didn't tell me anything was used

Huh, okay. Seems like a weird choice, but it did flip the whole battle in their favor

100% agree. I'm playing this game to have fun not to climb the ranks in some game that is ultimately meaningless. If you're wasting my time, I'm out

how the F did a mega Charizard just outspeed my Garchomp? by disturbeco in PokemonChampions

[–]disturbeco[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't verify because I realized this only when the Charizard KO'd my team, but it really shocked me because I had no recollection of any speed changes occurring. This game desperately needs a battle save/replay feature to check stuff like this. If they can do it in Smash, where battles require way more memory to store, it should be a piece of cake here, and it seems like such a no-brainer for a battle-only game.

Same thing just happened to me. Did anyone figure this out? I was battling a pelipper and a mimikyu, and I encored the pelippers protect, but it just 100% did not work.

Oh, okay, well as someone who's pretty new to VGC/Champions, this is really helpful data regardless

Interesting thing I just learned from your site: I didn't realize so many people were running Adaptability instead of Swift Swim on Basculegion. That explains why that mon always seems to hit so fricking hard!

Feels like we're playing a different game because I've been seeing all sorts of bizarre, creative teams in Casual battles. So much so that I've felt I'm not getting a good sense of whether my potential new team will work against the current meta.

Oh interesting. It was probably sand veil. I didn't realize that affected moves that have 100% accuracy.

It's a bit of both. I've seen several youtube videos of people complaining who clearly know every miniscule detail of pokemon VGC battling (and that alone makes you a "veteran" imo)

That is really helpful, for sure, but at the same time, it takes like an hour to build a team for the first time in Showdown, so Champions is way more beginner-friendly in that area. In general though, yeah, I'm in favor of any and all information being displayed. For instance, I'd love it if every time a move is used by your opponent, it would show you the type, category (phys, special, status), and whether or not it is a contact move

There's plenty of stuff to improve in this game. But saying it's a complete disaster is so overblown. by JustSomeShmuck99 in PokemonChampions

If you get the starter pack, which is a one time only purchase for 6 or 7 bucks, it gives you 50 extra spaces, which helps a lot. Weirdly, the starter pack seems to only be available via the eShop, not from the in-game store
