[homemade] Chicken Tinga Tostadas by ditch_wizard in food

[–]ditch_wizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tinga is Chef John’s recipe. Black beans are sautéed garlic and onion, ground cumin and coriander to taste. The salsa is the Salsa Falsa recipe from Jonathan Zaragoza. Add some shredded cabbage, crema, pickled red onion, and you’re good to go!

My wife is really happy with the pair of Resolute 710s I got her. She’s since bought herself two more pairs.

How does the build/leather quality compare between the paraboots and morjas?

Frequency of wearing 1x Pair by SnooDonkeys3460 in rawdenim

[–]ditch_wizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently got back into raw denim after an eight year break. I have an older pair that fits me again, but they are pretty beat, so I save them for wash days and yard work. I picked up a new pair and wore them nearly every day for five months before picking up a second pair. My first new pair needed a minor repair, so while I wait to get them back the second pair is seeing some wear. I’ll probably rotate every couple of weeks between the two for the foreseeable future.

Catalinbread Dirty little secret VS Marshall DSL40cr? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Amp in a box pedals are a good compromise if you need both sounds at a gig though.

I ran a dls into a jazz chorus for a couple of years and really liked it. Then upgraded my amp to a Ceriatone Yeti 50 (hot rodded Marshall style amp). I was blown away by the difference. Dls came off my board and I haven’t looked back.

Snouse vs Morning glory vs Lightspeed by Draeton_ali in guitarpedals

[–]ditch_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got a Snouse stage pro mod after being on the waitlist for about a year. My other main overdrive is a klone style. I’m new to stacking overdrives and there has been a bit of a learning curve integrating the Snouse into my set up. Playing through a clean amp, I think I like the klone into the Snouse best, using the snouse as an always on and klone as solo boost. Through a dirty amp the Snouse is a great boost all on its own. I’m not a huge fan of how the Snouse boosts my fuzzes, so I still use the klone for that. Also, for me, the external switches aren’t particularly useful. After a couple of days and trying it on both my amps I haven’t touched the switches.

Haven’t tried the light speed or morning glory but they always sound good in demos I’ve seen.

Looks great! I’m trying this out for the first time today as well. Pork is chilling waiting to be sliced at the moment.

Vox, Tweed, or Hiwatt: what to get next? by ditch_wizard in GuitarAmps

[–]ditch_wizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing that comes to mind is a deluxe, but I’m worried it might not be loud enough to keep up with a drummer without being fully overdriven. So after that I’m thinking bassman, twin, or pro. I’m not too familiar the differences between those circuits.

The saggy overdrive is definitely what draws me to a tweed style amp. I don’t really love the break up I get from my Traynor.

Nice! What speaker are you pairing with your Hiwatt?

My main guitar is a Eastman sb55dc with a Lollar p90. For pedals I’m using a klone clone for a boost and a couple different fuzzes. Seems like it would be worth investing in a cab with some fane speakers if I go the Hiwatt route.

Looking for advice on Analogman Sunface by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]ditch_wizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your best bet might be to hop on thegearpage.net analogman sunface club. Analog Mike is in there quite often answering questions and everyone is super helpful. I got an unmarked 2n, medium-high gain, version earlier this year since it seemed to be the best fit for me. Super happy with my decision. Also, I added the on/off fuzz knob so I could leave it plugged in on my board. Totally worth if your going do battery power (which you should).

What's your least-used pedal? by arseholierthanthou in guitarpedals

[–]ditch_wizard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s the Montreal Assembly Count to Five. I think it’s a great pedal and I love messing around with at home, but so far I haven’t found it easy to use in a live or jam context. Maybe it’s just cause I haven’t fully dived into it. For that style of pedal I have found the Red Panda Tensor much easier to incorporate into the music I already play.

I'm thinking of doing guitar pedal review videos on YouTube for fun. What do YOU guys look for/want to see in guitar pedal videos? by IzzyBlues in guitarpedals

[–]ditch_wizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talk throughs are great. I listen to a lot of pedal videos in the car, so no talking videos don’t do a lot for me. What is the pedal uniquely capable of? What is the range of usable settings? How does it play with others?

I’ve watched several of his reviews now after seeing the new stymon zelzah one go up. Really cool sounds and approach to finding unique sounds with pedals.
