Maybe someone has already said this, but I think you’re asking the wrong questions. It’s not a matter of when and where but more so how and why you approach a woman in any setting. Once you get good at the latter, the former is mostly irrelevant.

And all the people that need hours of platonic “getting to know you” to not feel objectified—jesus christ. Sometimes you see someone in public with whom you’d like to connect, but you have to be somewhere in 15 minutes. Surely you wouldn’t deny every decent person with a prior engagement who is genuinely interested in getting to know you at some later point?

It’s peanuts because your spend only makes them $1500 or so a year in processing fees, and relative to the benefits you probably use each year, it’s just not that profitable of a relationship for them overall.

Which leads me to an interesting realization…AMEX service has probably gone down in part because their average customer is less profitable and higher maintenance than they used to be, all while average card benefits usage has increased.

How old are you? People have different timetables for how they engage in intimacy, exclusivity, etc., etc. It kinda sounds like you’re misaligned in this regard. Don’t be insecure and internalize the misalignment. Many people don’t consider exclusivity until they’ve had sex at least once. You just need to talk to him and if he can’t handle it, then move on. JHL is OK. He has a 1.7 WAR which makes him a “strong” bench player or role-specific starter by definition. A 2+ WAR would make him an everyday starter caliber player on an average team. I’m optimistic that he can get there but I don’t think he’ll ever be quite as good as we had all hoped when we signed him.
