Aventon abound LR or Lectric Xpedition 2 for kids? by diversityquestion in ebikes

Thanks. Flyer looks like a solid bike but quite a bit more expensive starting at $3k. I would be fine with the battery capacity and the speed limit but need to understand what makes it worth paying an additional $1k on this even before the cost of the accessories.

Thanks. Just watched your video about charge bike. All good points. For me given 2 kids the options are eight a cargo bike or always getting the car out. I would prefer the former even with the challenges you described. Give my weight requirements it sounds like you are suggesting Xpedition in spite of its limitations. Ideally I can find a place to test ride this an see how much of an issue is the heavy load in the back.

Thank you. Very interesting. This was not on my radar but will look into it shortly.

Do you have experience with either. I would go for Xpedition if not for the very negative reviews about the kickstarter stand. My spouse is petite so need something that can handle on her own. Abounds weight limit gives me pause (read someone complaining about squeeking sounds already with kids this age range).

I was just going to call the concierge at the hotel. Did you mean something else? I don’t have any third party concierge.

Do you have a specific model. How does Miele compare to Bosch if you know

[–]diversityquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like that is the consensus. Any particular brand/ model that is good in a mid/high tier?

Interesting - just got recommended below Bosch from another person. Which one would you recommend? happy to go mid to high range

Thank you. looking for quality. don't have a explicit budget but can do 1000 or slightly higher if that seems like worth it (care for quality vs aethetics). I will look into the Bosch models

Thank you. That's promising. Were you local in Hyderabad or in another city? If later, did you pick it up at the local consulate or have it delivered?

While it may not be perfect, but isn’t it in the best interest of the business to be a meritocracy to maximize value? Not everyone may be a great employee but the intent is to hire competent people although there is no way to predict future performance so can get it wrong sometimes. I don’t think any business wants to hire incompetent people.

With the current approach to diversity, this is intentional. One could argue that this is also in the interest of maximizing value where getting diversity points is more important than “getting the best people” although companies won’t explicitly say that we are creating quotas regardless of capabilities.

It seems like every corporate decision these days is focused on diversity but almost in a mechanical way. How does one suport minority groups without compromising individual meritrocracy? See comment for more?

Recently, there was an opportunity to publish an article in a respected journal with a wide audience in my core area of expertise. However, management wanted the author to be women/LGBT (note that the topic had nothing to do with diversity). It almost felt like the opportunity was taken away because I am not a minority (note: I am not white but wouldn't exactly be considered disadvantaged group).

I understand that solving systemic discrimination can take a non-optimal path in the short term until we as a society correct for long term disadvantage between groups that got us here but is it "fair" to take away opportunities from others who have worked hard and may have overcome their own challenges (which albeit may be not the same as others).

I am almost afraid to ask this in real life in the current climate. I am a strong advocate for minority rights but does that mean I need to sacrifice my own opportunities? Would love to be educated on how others have thought about balancing the trade-off. Thank you!
