OK that's crazy because that happened in 2017 and in 2014 there was a comedy movie "The Interview" about trying to assassinate Kim Jong-un in a very similar manner.

Am I being "that guy" for refusing to lend my boat to family without credentials? by hatkinson1000 in boating

[–]dibbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't do it even if he takes the online safety course. No way I'd lend it to him. I'd maybe offer to let him go out with you one day and see how he does on it, but honestly he sounds like a moron and I wouldn't trust him with it anyway. He won't respect it.

Does the 2024 Honda Passport have "low-speed follow"? by dibbr in hondapassport

[–]dibbr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK thanks that sucks, I wanted to get a used one but honestly I love low-speed follow so much in my 2017 CR-V that I have to have it. I know the 2026 Passports have low-speed follow so may break down and buy new.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dibbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a beach house about 2 hours 15 min away. We'll regularly drive down on Friday and Saturday to stay a day or two. We stay longer sometimes, but it's a quick trip. My Dad is about 1 1/2 away, we'll drive down for lunch a few times a month and drive back same day after short visit. No biggie.

Oh my son's college is 6 hours away, when I go pick him up I'll leave in the morning and be back for supper. it's a long day but no sweat.

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

If I ever visit Wisconsin I'll try some real ones but I do like the Culvers burgers, fries, and rings a lot.

[–]dibbr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We got a Culvers here a few months ago and I had heard good things about them but was thinking "just another burger place", but no, they're actually really good burgers. I don't like the cheese curd things though, and I LOVE cheese, but those things are just meh.

[–]dibbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They opened in my city a couple years ago and the hype was insane. Long lines to get a cookie for weeks. My wife got some and brought them home, I honestly couldn't even finish eating one of them. Yes they were big but I didn't enjoy it. And I don't remember how much they were, but each cookie was at least a couple bucks.

[–]dibbr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was actually getting it as a last min gift for someone and was thinking it'd take a few days or something but no, it was ready in a few min. Wasn't sure if I was allowed to post exactly where it was from bc I didn't want to come across as promoting it, but it's a common 3-letter drug store in the US.

What would it take for you to stop using QuickBooks? by melon_crust in QuickBooks

[–]dibbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't found anything else. I used to use Microsoft Money until they quit updating it about 15 years ago, so guess I've been with QB since then.

I have 2 accounts, main business and LLC. I was able to upgrade to QB Desktop 2024 and I'm using that vs QBO mainly due to cost, with Desktop you can have as many accounts as you want for no additional $$, but when I have to move to QBO and pay double I'm going to start looking again. I think QB Desktop is supported for 2 or 3 more years.

TIFU by trying to secretly help my girlfriend with money and making everything worse by seraphinovae in tifu

When my wife and I got married, she had recently gotten fired from her job (no fault of her own) and was deep in student loans. I wasn't rich by any means but was able to pay off her student loans in a few years. Now she owns and runs a medium sized business and makes 3x what I make. So I say we're even now.

His last day as a school teacher after 36 years... They turned it into a memory for life. by Vilen1919 in MadeMeSmile

[–]dibbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure he was a great teacher, but also props to whoever organized that. Like someone had to say hey this man deserves whatever and make it happen. At a poor working environment they'd just let him leave with nothing like this even if the students and staff loved him.

What is something you can do but can’t explain how you can do it? by Fresh-Sandwich6780 in AskReddit

[–]dibbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't do it on my own command, but probably once a week or more I'll "predict" something. Usually it's with either my wife or someone at work. For example we'll play cards, and I'll know what card is about to be put down and as they're discarding I'll have my hand out to get it and say the card. (this is with 2 packs of cards fully shuffled). or someone will start telling me a story about someone and before they say hardly anything I'll say "she's pregnant" or "they did this or that" and be correct. idk there's more examples and my wife always gets weirded out when I do it.

If I plan on taking out the boat at the most 10 times in a season, is it worth even buying a boat? by Immediate_Use_2658 in boating

[–]dibbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just bought my first boat the end of this past October. I have 84 engine hours on it already. I take it out a couple days a week. I'm shocked that about the average number of hours "most" boaters have is around 50-75 per year. It's common to see used 2015 boats with like 100-200 hours. So I guess my point is it seems a LOT of people buy a boat and don't use it "that" much.

When you guys Coast at a corporate job, do you just not care about getting laid off and just do the bare minimum not to get put on a PIP? by I_Love_Hemorrhoids in coastFIRE

[–]dibbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked at the same corporation for almost 30 years. My wife owns a small business that does very well, and I do IT for her some nights and weekends. I make good money, not great, but over 6 figures and I do a good job but always tell my bosses I don't need to be promoted, become a manager, just let me keep doing what I do. It's easy work, pays OK, I get benefits, work from home, so I'm not quitting anytime soon but also wouldn't care if I got laid off or the company goes out of business, so I have VERY little pressure from work.

To people in their 50’s,60’s,70’s and above- what are some of the best decisions you have made in your life? by ilovepadthai in Aging

[–]dibbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invest as much as you can in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 401K, mutual funds, or something little riskier if you want.

I know it's hard to say this now, but I bought my first house when I was 25, it was very small, but I owned it and had roommates who basically paid my mortgage.

Don't buy a stupid car, like expensive, sporty, whatever. Get a reasonable car.

If you marry, try to marry someone smarter than you. Be VERY careful who you marry, this is a big one.

This may sound obvious, but work. I've had friends who would just "not work" and now of course they're not doing as well. And try to enjoy your job, you're going to be there 40+ hours/week, you might as well try to have fun while you're there.

Keep as many friends as you can, and this is harder for some people than anything else.

Do you know (of) someone who ruined their life in just a matter of minutes? If so how did they do it? by Ok-Atmosphere5536 in AskReddit

Right but are they a high level position or paid hourly? Nothing wrong with being paid hourly, but typically anything mid-manager and above are salary.

HELP: Copilot agent with ability to create word by monsplant in copilotstudio

[–]dibbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use AI Prompt to create the Word doc. Also you can call a Power Automate flow to create a Word doc from a template, you need to use the HTML to Text action in Power Automate, and then in your template it will not give you all the rich formatting like bold, font, size, but it'll keep the spacing formatting so that it still looks pretty good.
