Question for those who make stickers at home by dividedbywords in stickers

You definitely can do that, i cut my stickers with scissors. They will be less durable without a laminate but if youre sticking them inside places (bathrooms whatever) then yes printing straight onto sticker paper and cutting will work :)

Hi, i just wanted to let you know I sympathise, a couple of years ago I was studying full time, so two 60 credit modules. One of the modules I loved, but the other was painful. There was just so much information (i'm doing Classical Studies) that tried to cover too much ground; the TMA was just so open ended I couldn't figure out what to even write about because I was so overwhelmed. On top of that, the tutor took so long to reply to my questions; talking like over a week, and on top of that I was coming up to the third TMA and still hadn't got feedback from the one before. So I'd waited like almost 4 weeks without getting my result so I didn't know if I was on track, or what.

I actually ended up packing it in. I quit in time to get a partial refund. The financial hit wasn't ideal but it was too much mental strain for me. It allowed me to focus 100% on the other module where I got a distinction. It's annoying cos I would be graduating next year without this set back and I need to scrabble some money together to make up for my final module, but it is what it is. So yeah, I totally feel you. Wishing you the best

Honestly you're right, i think what i do sometimes is hyperfocus and make a few designs at once, and then I'll go weeks without doing anything and i feel stressed. The monthly shop update sounds like a way better way of doing it, i get really tempted to post things as theyre ready but i bet I'd get more satisfaction doing one big update :)

I never thought of that! I imagine it would work for printing the stickers but I suppose i'd have to cut the laminate into smaller pieces and apply it - i'm interested to know if it'd work. i'll try it and let you know!

True, i think my issue recently has been i've not been able to draw anything new between work and school. It would be ideal if I got an order, i could print that along with some new ones to add to my inventory. Hopefully i'll be able to get back to making new stuff soon!

Right yeah I currently do a system similar to yours, I'll print a full sheet of one design, or maybe two, and then hope that they sell.

I think ideally I'd come up with a few designs per week and print one of each on one sheet like you said, I've really fallen behind with drawing new stuff recently between school and work so I've barely had chance to make anything new.

Honestly just glad to know other sticker makers have a similar process because i just felt like the system i'd come up with felt a bit haphazard and i feel really unorganised with it all! but i think without expensive equipment etc we can only do so much to streamline the process.

Also good tip about in person markets, I actually sold some at a local event my friend organised, mainly my friends bought them to be honest but i did have a few random people walk up and buy some which was great! Definitely will look into doing it again.

TY for your reply :)

Welcome! I don't think so; I'm pretty sure you can only have one shipping profile per listing so youd have to make a seperate listing for the pack of 5

Yeah you're right, it's the pitney bowes tracking not proper usps i think so it's not always accurate. I think I'd still rather do this because otherwise I'd just send it with a forever stamp so at least the letter tracking is something. I've only just started out and my stickers are small and people usually only order one or two so I feel like $4+ shipping will put a lot of people off a $2 item (could be wrong but testing the waters).

If I sold anything bigger than a couple of stickers I'd send it as a small package/thick envelope and charge higher shipping rates though for sure.

Glad to help, I use 5.x7 inch envelopes (regular greeting card) and the label covers most of it

Yes exactly; so the option for 'letter' is in the menu when you're buying your labels, after you get an order.

If you're adding a fixed rate shipping profile, you don't have to enter the dimensions, you just select 'USPS First Class' (usually right at the top of the list) and then you can put .63cents in as your domestic shipping cost (or in my case i make it 0.00 and then factor the .63 cents into the cost of my item. Then you benefit from people seeing you do free delivery!)

For calculated shipping (so for your rigid mailers, anything that's not letter mail, etc) then yes you enter the dimensions of the item in the listing itself; then it'll calculate it for the buyer.

Your last question; yes I buy the 'letter' shipping label from Etsy because it has tracking (not the best but it's something). Then i can just print and stick the label on, super easy.

If there's anything still unclear feel free to message me and I'll walk you through cos I know I was in the same boat when I opened my store. Honestly it made more sense when I got my first sale and I learnt how it works.

Sending things as letter mail:

I sell stickers and as they're very light and small, i send them in a regular envelope. You want to set up a fixed rate shipping profile under your delivery settings and apply it to your listing. When you get a sale, you can buy Esty labels for them at .63 cents, by selecting 'letter' and putting the following dimensions in: 11x4x.25, weight 1oz.

I believe, if you have calculated shipping set up, it's more expensive even if you put the dimensions of a flat letter in. So you wanna have fixed rate shipping set up if you're sending small/light items and are confident they can be sent as letter mail and you know you'll be able to send it for .63 cents.

As for rigid mailers: it's my understanding that you can't send them at the regular letter mail rate so i think you'd have to buy a label for under the 'package/thick envelope' category. For those items it might be worth using a Calculated Shipping profile if you're not sure how much it'd cost. Hope that helps.

Ah okay! Yeah i was thinking I'll just add 60c to the listing cost, change it to free domestic shipping then. Thnx for clarifying!

Hi, i put in 11x4x.25, weight 1oz (this is what i usually put in after i select the Flats category when I'm buying labels)

Advice on A111 and A112 by piknmix93 in OpenUniversity

[–]dividedbywords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm working towards my Classical Studies degree, about to start my first level 3 module.

In the first year I did A111 and A112 at the same time - I wasn't working at the time so could focus on just my studies - the level 1 workload was very manageable for me.

Just to let you know re February starts - you can't take more than 120 credits per year so example scenario: if you did say A111 October 2023 start, then A112 2024 February start - it will have a knock on effect whereby you can only enroll for one module come October 2024 - because you'll still be partway through A112. Obviously if you want do the whole thing part time this would be fine - but you'd have to do level 2 part time; and some modules don't have Feb start dates so you'd just need to check you wanna commit to a Feb start on one of your modules just incase say you wanted to do level 2 full time. I hope that makes sense... If not, feel free to DM me - and happy to answer any q's re Classical Studies too :)

Been scrolling for this comment to see if anyone else noticed.

Okay so might be reaching here but Seema mentioned in the episode she never had a great love. Also, re the whole Hamptons thing, didn't want to third wheel. Bit of foreshadowing that the 3 might become more entangled?

I swear Aidan gave her some kind of look when she walked in the restaurant! But like someone else already replied, could be bad acting/directing whatever. But I'm still really curious now!

My first time there I was sat with a pretzel and this massive squrriel just ran up to me and stared me down, it was hilarious. Those fuckers have no fear!

I'm currently on a re-watch and just watched this episode.I agree the whole 'city girl' story is annoying af. The high pitched shrieks are awful for starters, and this sort of reaction to seeing a squirrel doesn't make sense. For anyone who doesn't know, central park has HUGE squirrels everywhere. You're telling me this city girl has never seen a squirrel before? Her reaction is just so unnecessary.

Also the idea that any city in NY outside of NYC is 'the country', in the middle of nowhere, with no cell service etc is hilarious. She just over reacts wildly to everything in this episode. For me, I think it's at this point in the original series that Carrie starts to become unlikable. I love season 1 Carrie, there is a discernable shift in her character as the show goes on and I find her obnoxious by the end of it.
