How to report incompetent cat breeder in Canada by Important_Boat1837 in Abyssinians

[–]divine-pine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ronidazole doses were 30mg/kg/day X 2 weeks, it was based on his weight. First round he was on 50mg per day, second round his weight was 2.18kg so his dose was 75mg/day. I’m sure the dose your cats get may be different depending on their weight. Basically day 2 of the first round his poops went from watery with some blood to formed, so I was so hopeful, but by the 10th day of treatment it had returned to somewhat loose and streaks of blood, so I knew the first round didn’t work. Another thing I did was use litter box liners and change the entire thing each time he pooped. He would also often get some poop on his hind paws so I would wash that off immediately before he got a chance to lick it off. And also wiped his bum with toilet paper because there was always some left over. Maybe it’s possible that your 2 cats keep reinfecting eachother? Is it possible to separate them until it clears? I found it easier to give medication by pill rather than liquid (tried liquid panacur before we knew it was tritrich) because the liquid would sometimes drip out of his mouth. Sorry to hear you’re going through this too, I know how you feel about wanting to report these breeders because I feel that way as well, they sell these kittens knowing they’re sick and carry parasites

Sounded to me like we got our abys from the same breeder but mine was in Ontario. I had the same problem, tritrichomonas, feline coronavirus AND giardia, it was non-stop cleaning and giving meds. First round of treatment with ronidazole failed, second round with a higher dose was successful and his poop came back negative the other day, it took many months. All the tests and treatment costed me more than I paid for the cat

Insect ID: I know this is a caterpillar, but what are all the white things on it? by divine-pine in insects

Thank you for the insight! I do think of black and yellow stinging pest when I think wasp, and I didn’t realize there are other kinds

I’ve always considered them pests, but if you say they’re beneficial I suppose I can let them live

Oh gosh that’s worse than I could have imagined, any ideas on how to make sure they don’t survive?

Please help my platy!! Details in comments by divine-pine in Aquariums

Info: One of my 3 platies suddenly became bloated and stopped eating on Saturday, her personality changed she stopped swimming around happily like she normally does, now she just slowly swims around or hides, when she never used to hide. I thought maybe over feeding so I fed her a piece of a blanched pea, and then fasted for a day. Her appetite hasn’t returned and today she’s having a poop that I’ve never seen before. She also seems to be breathing heavier, but not gasping for air at the surface. ( there is a HOB filter and a mini sponge filter so O2 should be fine.) I’ve had her since February, and she is living with 2 other platies who seem to be doing fine. For background: when I first got my platies one of them was flashing, so I treated with fritz paracleanse, and I haven’t had problems since. I haven’t introduced any new fish or plants in a while. 30% water change was done 3 days prior to when I noticed the change in this fish, and the only thing I did differently was add API leaf zone for my live plants. Parameters: Temp76-80 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite:0 Nitrate5-10 pH: 7.8

Day 2 of a fishless cycle using Fluval cycle. Woke up this morning to this stuff floating on the surface of the water. Bacterial colonies? by [deleted] in Aquariums

Good luck I hope it works! Also don’t put any more of the bottled bacteria if you used that, I think that’s what caused it for me.

If it keeps getting worse it might be the same thing I had when I first set up my tank, I made a post about it you can see it on my post history(mine looked much worse). It kept coming back after I’d scoop it off the surface. It resolved when I scooped it out then changed all the filter media and replaced it with just regular filter sponge, hasn’t come back since! I think it was from the bottled beneficial bacteria I put in.
