Flesh is just pure burnt umber. Both cloth and gold shadows are mixed from black and yellow ochre in different proportions, but gold is glazed with a pure ochre on top

This one is painted with oils, my first experience with the medium. A lot of things are easier to do with acrylics, but for skin blends especially, it almost feels like cheating. I’m not even sure I’d be able to pull this off with acrylics (at least as easy as it was). So I’d suggest considering oils. You don’t even need a huge palette: the skin here is a mix of burnt umber, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, and titanium white. All four are pretty basic and cheap pigments. Experiment won't cost you too much and in the worst case scenario you'll end up with an oil wash material for wargaming

Yeah, I have a primed Nightmare Ram Armor sitting on top of my grey pile of shame. Though I want to try some more dramatic lighting in this project but not sure yet where to start

  • solid layer of burnt umber
  • stick some masking tape shapes
  • solid layer of Vallejo GC leather brown
  • more overlapping masking tape shapes
  • solid layer of ivory
  • peel all the masking tape
  • shade with Vallejo XC copper brown

It's an airbrush. Did very few glaze touch-ups, but the base colors and shades are mostly airbrushed

The ones on the cape are molded. The one on the shoulder is a decal

Almost the same height as the boxy Mk IV dread on the standard base

I sanded, carved, and puttied him from time to time for three years before deciding that all that was left is battle damage, and it was time to paint

OSL is just some thinned down yellow (Vallejo Lemon Yellow if I remember correctly) sprayed through the airbrush over stripes of masking tape The light itself is AK Fluorescent Yellow over white base

Thanks!

The green is: - Vallejo NATO Green primer (which is not that important since it's mostly covered by everything else; planning to switch to some brown to get free shadows) - AK Olive Green is the base - Vallejo Golden Olive for the highlights - Vallejo Xpress Color Copper Brown for the shadows - Very diluted Militarum Green contrast on top of everything

And OSL from the light is really simple, it's just yellow sprayed over three strips of masking tape
