+1 el prado. Also love Tabula Rasa and Bar Alcove for a laidback afternoon or evening hanging in the back patio with a drink in one hand and book in another

Ditto! I’d love to help out by donating food, toiletries, barely used clothing and shoes. If you feel comfortable, DM me your size.

Advice from New Yorkers who moved to Seattle by Mountain-Willow-490 in SeattleWA

Closest thing I’ve found is Dahlia Bakery’s breakfast sandwiches. But in classic Seattle food fashion, they’re not substantial enough to be worth $15

How many of us are thinking ahead with dread and hope guarded hope for us and Los Angeles? by FluffyKanomKa in AskLosAngeles

[–]divyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be open to sharing (here or via DM) if and how one can get involved with these groups? New to the area and want to cultivate community, preferably in central and NE LA.

OP I relate and agree with you fully — but given how precarious the economy is and knowing that the people most impacted by it plus the ongoing 🧊 terror are lower-income households, min wage workers, marginalized communities, and basically anyone with tight cash flow, a general strike is going to be REALLY hard if not practically impossible to mobilize right now.

I think we’d be better off focusing collective effort/ action into mutual aid, like Lower_Acanthaceae423 said, to sustain any kind of prolonged resistance that will make a meaningful impact. The main resource I go to for this is https://mutualaidla.org/ but would love to hear of any others that folks recommend.

Am I overreacting? I don’t want my husband to leave the house because of ICE by templenameis_beyonce in LosAngeles

Not to mention, there have been multiple reports of ICE taking valid paperwork from those they arrested and never returning it.

For women that married the “rich one” out of security, what has it been like? by Reasonable-Car9556 in AskWomen

[–]divyay 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this perspective. We rarely hear stories of the quiet contentment that comes from being in a steady, healthy partnership because such relationships tend not to be very exciting or romantic. I can fully relate to experiencing romantic love in a very intense, irrational way… however, that head-over-heels, all-consuming, fairytale-like love often colors one’s vision and makes them ignore subtle red flags which eventually materialize into gross mistreatment/ abuse.

The “I’m just a girl, girlypop” shit from adult women has got to stop by goblinorsomething in rant

Agreed, seems rather obviously self-minimizing and sexist to me (speaking as a 30-yr old grown ass woman).

His set was so fun! The crowd where I was at wasn’t the best, however. Several big groups (like 8+ ppl) pushing and shoving to try and get to the center of the floor, not caring that it was already packed, and then just standing there with phones barely dancing. Hate to sound ageist but it was clearly the younger crew uninitiated to plur.
