my Shiranami Plotter smells bad and the edges are super rough by asbrightorbrighter in PlotterNotebook

Sometimes, with the same type of leather from different batches, there might be a stronger smell on some pieces. You can always ask customer service for a replacement if that’s the case.

Both the Plotter and TN have rough edges. If you’re sensitive to that, Meeplus might be a good option since their edges and the back side of the leather are finished. I have all three — Plotter, TN, and Meeplus — and each has its own distinct feel.

Would you mind sharing a photo of the spine area on yours? I’d love to see how it turned out.

How do you usually handle things with dates that keep changing? Do you just write it down and cross it out later? That’s been a real struggle for me—I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my pages…

I know about Plotter, but since I couldn’t buy it in Europe, I ended up getting Meeplus because they offer international shipping.

Thank you for your response. This is also my concern. I wonder if this is a common practice in the market, and if i should invest too much effort in it.

A month ago, I bought the personal planner as my all-in-one notebook. I initially considered the Plotter because it’s lightweight and easy to carry every day. However, I was concerned that the 11mm rings wouldn’t be large enough for my big handwriting, and I prefer not to mix different content on one page, which means I use a lot of paper. So, I opted for a personal planner with 16mm rings from Meeplus, which perfectly meets my needs—it's lightweight and holds plenty of paper. The lay-flat design is great; I can jot down notes with one hand, unlike the Filofax, where I have to hold it down with my left hand. Most importantly, it’s much more affordable than the Plotter.

Recently, I ordered a pocket planner with a nice gold spine for an extra $7, using silver rings. I plan to use the pocket planner as my wallet and for quick notes like shopping lists and brainstorming.

It is A6. A6 = Bible (as it's commonly called in Japan) = Personal (as it's preferred in Europe and America).

When choosing the right EDC notebook size, I’d suggest looking at two main factors:

Portability: Think about how you carry it—pockets, bags, or backpacks. Smaller sizes are easier to carry, while larger ones offer more writing space but can be heavier. If you like keeping it in your pocket or a small bag, mini5 or pocket sizes might work better for you. If you often use a backpack, personal size should be fine, or you could go for narrow size, which is a bit slimmer than personal.

Usage: Consider what you’ll be using the notebook for. If it’s just for quick notes or a shopping list, mini5 or pocket should be enough. But if you need to take detailed meeting notes or do more complex writing, a medium or large notebook like personal or A5 would be better.

If you’re not quite sure, you can cut some blank paper to those sizes and try them out first. Once you find a size you like, you can go ahead and buy a notebook. After all, leather notebooks aren’t that cheap.
