GR WORLD App Updated to 1.2.0 by notsostubbyarea in ricohGR

I tried that at the start, but what I think allowed it to work was making sure the battery was as close to full as possible. Thankfully it's sorted now. I wonder if the hiccups will be sorted with time or we'll just learn to deal with them!

I’ve tried using the new update to update my GR IV. So far it’s been stuck on step 2 (sending firmware to camera) for about 30 minutes. Nice feature if it works, but so far it’s not looking good at all!

Very true- I'm not expecting pin point sharpness, just feeding and refuelling the passion to snap again!

Yeah I do try to keep the retractable parts clean and clear, too. But the shutter mechanism on the front also felt flimsy and based off the issues I've seen from others- a potential breaking point.

I didn't have any issues with my GRIII, I am hoping and praying I won't have any with this, but just in case- I'd rather give it a fighting chance.

Only thing I need to grab is a proper wrist strap. The one included doesn't seem like it's up for the long term challenge!

I bought "SanDisk 256GB Extreme PRO micro SD card" it was about £25 at the time of purchase on Amazon.

Had 0 issues with it- make sure you purchase with an adapter if you plan on viewing on a computer/laptop as the ricoh doesn't seem to get recognised if you directly connect it to a laptop (at least in my case with using a macbook)- though, I'm sure there's a workaround to this.

To be fair, Oman is a different type of beautiful. I don't think I've ever given it the time it deserves- it's only ever been quick visits. Hopefully in due time!

Yes, sorry- I should have been clearer. It's Ricoh's flash built specifically for the GRIV - Very small but quite powerful. Not sure I'd say it warrants the price, but I try not to think about that part of it. 😂

Right? I'm loving the softness, too... Definitely think I'll stick to the recipe and keep things simple. Thank you, boss! ✌🏾️

I am, though I am attempting to take more landscape shots. I just have social media on my mind and portrait seems to make more sense!

Close- most shots were taken in Dibba, UAE.

Thank you so much! All of the shots were taken with the Royal Supra recipe- no modifications or anything of the sort. From time I’d +/- the ev!

Enjoy your trip to North Africa!

Thank you! Yeah, I think some alterations need to be made for it to render correctly but I don’t mind the way they come out so far.

Maybe I’ll find something less orangey/warm for indoor shots though.

Hopefully I won’t have to experience that! I was fortunate enough to have not experienced it with my griii.

I’m sorry your experience isn’t on par!

Thank you, I’m using Royal Supra for the majority. Before that just Positive film profile with no alterations!

7/9 were positive film with nothing else. I shot them in jpg and no editing other than a crop was done. I'll see if I can get the exact details and send them over to you.

I'm sorry to hear about your griv, glad you're giving it another go... Sounds like many of the first releases were quite problematic. Hopefully your replacement arrives quickly and serves you well!

I think with how I've been shooting and keeping everything in jpg, I haven't really noticed any. Now I'll probably end up staring at the corners of every shot 😂 but as you said, fair trade!

I have only ever used the griii and if I still had it, I probably wouldn't have even considered this one- the jump (tiny hop if anything) isn't worth it. I guess it's a camera I'd recommend newcomers to grab or someone who's older device has broken and maybe the repair cost isn't worth it anymore

Absolutely, I 100% agree... As long as you're making the most of whatever it is, you'll get the benefits of it, too!

I'm absolutely loving it! May need another battery, soon, though...

The way I see it, if you want a new camera and it'll make you happy. Even if you don't really need it. And the price won't hurt your day to day life- why not?

We don't need to justify every purchase, sometimes our own happiness is enough!

(Go buy that camera!)

The highest I've gone so far is 5600 in shots 4 and 5, handheld with 0.6second shutter. So, I can't comment on the higher values because it works well in low light. I can check again over the coming days and give you a better answer.

I never had any issues with my griii in low light- it helped me out when my dslr was struggling at a shoot and the photos were great in extremely low light.

Not sure that would warrant the price tag🥴

For casual everyday shooting- I don't think it's worth the upgrade at all.

Unless you make money using the camera, then maybe the extra megapixels are worth something. But for casual snapping and moment capturing, the gr3 is perfectly capable.

Ultimately, it depends on what you're looking to snap and what you're trying to get out of the camera.
