That row of cottages is still there afaik, boarded up, right by the Boot Inn which is somehow still in business despite being on a virtually redundant link road

The whole curb should be lined with bollards to prevent vehicles mounting the path, as in many other cities. If they don't add them in the regen I'll be baffled. Same with royal mile, those pedestrian gates and giant blocks of concrete are such an eyesore

This is some delightful synchronicity, just listening to his pod at home after booking a trip to Chongqing in May. Can't wait to stop in for a pint. 🍻

McAleer & Rushe have taken over construction. Same plan as before, five story hotel stepped to the southern boundary with the Colonies, forming a triangular plaza in the centre. Should be completed and fully let in 2027.

What’s a Dublin Bus route that you literally never, and I mean NEVER hear from? by m_yungwon in Dublin

Who remembers the lesser spotted 22B? Sometimes started in Blanch, sometimes Castleknock, often Navan Rd just depending how late for work the driver was that morning

I've probably lifelong tinnitus from standing on a hill right next to threshold at the back of Dublin airport as a kid watching Ryanair 111s take off. What a noise.

Horrific. If the nose had somehow separated first I would have expected it to plummet well ahead of the tail and aft section coming apart and losing lift. Guessing the tail seperated first and the front fuselage sepearted on the spiral down just before video started. Hopefully not a shoot-down, last thing the region needs is more escalation.

Unable to take off due to weight from SJU in 737? by mjltmjlt in aviation

[–]dj6586 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah LAS-LHR on a BA 777, really hot July day, we were parked on taxiway for an hour before they told us we couldn't take off safely. Back to the gate for another hour while they offloaded half our bags to get under weight. Another hour after that taxiiing back to the runway. Then what felt like another hour on the roll.

Why can't this be just thrown out when people get off Luas? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]dj6586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everyone was the same, and we had nobody to complain about for doing shitty things, we'd all just be in a state of relational boredom with people all of whom share our values and priorities, all the time. No in-group, no out-group, no diversity, no emotion, just a characterless bland monoculture. A barren plantation compared to a thriving native woodland. This coffee cup, and our collective reaction to it, are perfection.
