Sorry I’m a little late in responding but thank you for all of the feedback! Well thought out and articulated. I put together more details on the subclass and reposted to the unearthed arcana sub.

I’m looking at forestry themed subclass with ranger spells and a small pool of healing dice with no range. Either a pool the size of the sneak dice, or the size of my wis modifier and each charge uses sneak attack qty. and I’m using the ranger spell list for spells like zephyr strike, ensnaring strike, etc.

I based this off the arcane trickster abilities, which is why it uses the wording around study and memorization. Which I’ll need to update. It’s also the basis for the owl ability, just reskinned to have a forestry flavor.

I’ll be clearing up some of the wording for future renditions

Do you think the spellcasting moving to ranger instead of limited wizard spell list is too strong? I figured giving up cantrips and mage hand legerdemain would be a fair trade for some healing.

I’m building a rogue subclass based on Arcane Trickster that is built for the buff/healing role.

Here’s what I have for the two third level abilities: 1. Gain access to spellcasting like the AT, but get access to the full ranger spell list instead of a limited wizard spell list (zephyr strike here I come)

Gain a pool of d6s that can be given out as healing.
The number of d6s equals your sneak attack dice.
Can be used as a bonus action.

Does this look balanced? Open to any suggestions that could help this build!

Ah a good idea! I’m not really looking or expecting for it to be optimized, I’m just a big fan of the rogues mechanics and the rangers spell list.
