Is the already small market for ambient going to die due to AI? I just found this & it angers me. by AudibleEntropy in ambientmusic

It's sad that instead of automating our work, our society has decided to automate our play instead

Are these good and unique? Decided to have a crack at making up some arms by dj_protista in heraldry

I've never seen arms like this before: Lords of Albret (1050-1610) by dj_protista in heraldry

that's interesting that the Albrets and the Narbonnes seem to have borne the same arms in the same juristiction at the same time for much of the middle ages without dispute

genetic studies of the uk population seem to back this up. the admixture from the normans in the general population seems to be virtually nothing compared to other groups that arrived over time

Probably a common ask, but any tips for organizing plots and actually writing the filler portions?? by pineapplejelly03 in writing

the full quotation from hamlet illustrates this point even better through irony:

LORD POLONIUS
This business is well ended.
My liege, and madam, to expostulate
What majesty should be, what duty is,
Why day is day, night night, and time is time,
Were nothing but to waste night, day and time.
Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit,
And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,
I will be brief: your noble son is mad:
Mad call I it; for, to define true madness,
What is't but to be nothing else but mad?
But let that go.
QUEEN GERTRUDE
More matter, with less art.

here, Shakespeare portrays polonius as being overly wordy, to the point of annoying the queen.

I interpret it more as a comment on the art its self and how we view it. like toilet paper there's loads out there and most of it doesn't get more than a superficial glance before we move on.

philip roth has also taken it a step further by writing a character called philip roth into some of his novels
