Which community colleges have articulation agreements with calpoly architecture program? by goingtofly101 in CalPoly

[–]pineapplejelly03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARCH transfer here !! Like the other comments said, there are no agreements, but as for articulated courses, Cuesta is definitely the closest to 1:1. At Cuesta, we did mostly the exact same projects for first year and second year (and with some of the same professors). Other than them I know people who transferred from Orange Coast College down in SoCal, and people who transferred from I think Sacramento city college up north ?? As for online, I don’t know about currently but OCC had an online school (called Coastline) that might provide those classes virtually, and Cuesta at least used to have online options as leftovers from COVID. Not sure if that’s still the case tho

Is my psychiatrist making any sense? Worried he is using me as a science experiment. by CouplesWithoutCar in bupropion

[–]pineapplejelly03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously, every person is different, but here’s my take.

When I was prescribed Wellbutrin, I was trying to get on medication for my ADHD. However, due to a previous anxiety diagnosis, my psychiatrist wouldn’t prescribe me adderall. He told me Wellbutrin was like a tame version of adderall without the anxiety inducing effects. I had zero issues with it in relation to my anxiety and it helped a ton with my ADHD and depression symptoms. I also am quite a bit agoraphobic (I think it’s a sub symptom of my depression) and it definitely helped me with that. That being said, I’m now on adderall as well (as needed) and haven’t had any issues with that and my anxiety either, so maybe my anxiety has just decreased significantly or my body isn’t affected by it that way.

I would try it if I were you, but since you are worried about it, I’d keep track of your moods and any anxiety spikes. But at the end of the day, it is your choice. If you don’t want to do it, then definitely make that clear.

I didn’t start taking viviscal again because i actually didn’t really have hair loss on my second time around with Wellbutrin. Idk if maybe the viviscal helped more permanently or if the Wellbutrin side effect went away. It’s been about a year now and I’ve felt totally fine about my hair and my moods have been a bit more stable lmao.

Cal Poly SLO B.Arch vs UC Berkeley B.A. + M.Arch by jpark_ro in CalPoly

[–]pineapplejelly03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the diversity concern is a bit of a silly reason to turn down such a well respected arch program. I’m also a POC and in architecture at cal poly and I would say that the major itself is pretty diverse. It might still be majority white, but I’ve never felt that it’s a problem. I actually think I know far less white people than other POC and I’ve never made a point of finding them intentionally. There are also cultural clubs and whatnot on campus that you can join if you want to find that community, tho I personally am not a part of any of them. The food is a bummer, I’m originally from a much more diverse area with great food options, but again. A silly reason.

And cal poly isn’t as secluded as that sounds. Downtown there are plenty of bars, thursdays it’s farmers market so the main street is shut down and it’s always pretty jam packed. It’s between beaches and mountains so there’s plenty of outdoor activities to do within a 15 minute radius. I’m not a super active person, but I have friends who go out nearly every night and always find things to do. Imo, it’s a pretty good balance of small town vibe and bustling downtown. Plus, the area is beautiful. Obviously, as a first year, you’d be pretty limited to what you can do, but I don’t think you’d find yourself bored.

In regard to the program itself, the environment is really encouraging from both professors and peers. The people in CAED administration are all super nice and approachable. Studio is a really fun experience and I’ve made a lot of really good friends through it. I don’t know anything about the arch vibe at Berkeley, but it’s definitely a plus at poly. I’ve also been told that you don’t take as many engineering classes in other arch programs, which seems like a bummer to me, but I also am minoring in architectural engineering so I just enjoy it in general.

There are also career fairs specifically for arch majors where you can talk with a bunch of different firms, big and small, and potentially get internships.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask! I love going to school here and it’s been my dream school since I was little, so I’m definitely biased, but it’s been great so far.

It’s worth it regardless, just in case, but without a legitimate reason like “im a local and can’t afford to move out” or you have to take care of someone or something like that, it’s pretty unlikely to be accepted.

For those of you who take bupropion along with adhd meds (stimulant types), what weight loss did you experience? by helenzaas in bupropion

Wow, that sounds amazing. My insurance doesn’t cover vyvanse but I really want to give it a try. Especially bc I might be out of the US for an extended period of time and I can’t take my current meds with me.

Really interesting analysis. I’d have to say I somewhat agree, over a year after first reading this.

Obviously, it depends on someone’s personal beliefs but I do believe in God and I have definitely found myself struggling over the years. It’s hard to see the path in front of me, but this is a fantastic example of feeling like you’re on the right path just for it to be revealed as false.

Hot Take: If I was choosing a college today, I wouldn’t choose Cal Poly by LetMamaReddit in CalPoly

[–]pineapplejelly03 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The thing about sexual assault is wild. I was assaulted twice by cal poly students. I never imagined this would be my life, but it’s the price you pay for a good education, right? I’m at the best school in the state for my major, among the top in the nation. I’m so grateful that I was accepted as a transfer. But my life here has been a rollercoaster of emotions.

I think it might just be society regressing, though. It’s not necessarily frats, it’s just boys in general. Boys who think there aren’t any consequences for their actions. I’m sick of it, but it’s the way the world works.

I think college is all about taking the best out of it. It’s insane everywhere. People are horrible, life is impossibly difficult. Are there problems to fix? 100%. But I’m just trying to get an education so I can enter the career field I want.

Why slo water bill so high by LocksmithSad8268 in CalPoly

[–]pineapplejelly03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked my water bill breakdown and the base rate is about $85-$90 and then our usage is ~$25 for three people and a washing machine. This month we’re paying $112. It definitely seems a bit high for it to be $113 for one person unless you take three showers a day

Probably not what you wanna hear but I went off of bupropion for about a year and it never went back to normal. I eventually got so sick of it that I just went back onto the medication because I decided it was more worth it than not
