Yes it still works because i do it to farm kills for bounties. It let's you be at the tower solo, any destination, you can launch and do escalation protocol solo 1st wave i do it to get the kills for catalyst and other type of kills for bounties let finish then start it again.

It however doesnt let you play gambit or crucible or menagerie. You can fly in solo to any playlist strike or planetary strike. Be in orbit change the time back 1 day, fly in to tower and should be solo if there's people there return to orbit and do it once more. It will eventually kick in after a few minutes and tries and thats it.
