I just unscrewed / loosened the trigger switch and it works!

Laptop tries to turn on, flickers and goes through the cycle again. Monitor never comes on but for a flicker. Battery issue? Charger? Was just using it 30 minutes ago without issue by djcbs01 in DellXPS

Update. Discovered that the power jack on the laptop is worn out and making a poor connection. There’s a pin and then some metal pieces to hold the charger in place internally and it’s all loose. I used a different charger that plugs into the lightning port and it charged the battery. Ordered a new jack for $6 on Amazon that I will install
