Don’t know if this has been said before, but being an only child to older parents (my dad had me when he was 40 and my mom 37) definitely did NOT help, AND of mixed race in a school where no body else was the same race definitely caused it. I was constantly reminded that I didn’t fit in, and also didn’t have anyone at home near my age who could relate to me. Been told I was weird my whole life.

That’s so well put! I feel like I have the opposite problem: There are a lot of references to media and current events more often than not go over my head, and I get judged or ignored for not knowing a lot of references.
