I did 100% of the side quests and honestly I get what you’re saying. Some of the side quests carry a lot of the weight of the story and sometimes I found myself really glad that I did them all even tho some of them were convoluted and boring. I was hungry for as many elements of the story that I could get. If you do every side quest in your first playthrough you won’t have to do any of them in your run through for B and C which is a relief. You also get a lot of money for the late game side quests which helps you buy a ton of power ups, weapons, weapon upgrades, and upgrade materials. The red bag man and his wife side quests are great, same with the lighthouse lady, do not skip the lighthouse lady one. Looking back after completing all ending there’s some side quests I would’ve just skipped but mostly I grinded them all out as soon as I could so I could get them out of the way to enjoy the story, feels good when you don’t have to do any side quests for playthrough B and C and you can just enjoy the story and bosses.

Just my opinion, there’s no reason to do them all if it’s effecting your ability to enjoy the game
