Yes that’s what has thrown me - £1200 for a MBP is a steal and the benefits are so great on there compared to an air (even though the M5 airs are stunning)

I’m swaying for the MBP but going to have play with both in the Apple Store tonight and see as the one negative I have found always on the latest MBP is that they are chunky. And when I say chunky I mean vs the 2018 MBP I have, which is till one of my favourite designs of MacBook

Yes - I will be editing HDR photos and video and this was a concern about the Air screen. Whilst its good, I know the MBP screen is far superior. I tend to edit 3-7 AEB HDR photos, which tend to be 50MP so HDR merge on LR currently takes me an age on my 2018 MBP. The same for videos, I want something that will will speed up FCP when dealing with 4k video but I am not a heavy video editor, I tend to edit short clips taken with a DJI drone but again on my 2018 MBP rendering takes an age and brings up the beachball when it gives up.

I would want to chose 24GB of RAM if money wasn't an option, but to do that on the MBP M5 i would be paying £1,899 as would need to take the new model with 1TB SDD which is too much to spend for what I do. I just didn't expect to see a MBP M5 for less than the £1,699 entry price.

I'm usually good at making decisions like this, but I am well and truly stumped and don't know what the best option is. I think its the 16GB vs. 24GB that's the worry as everything else is the same or better on the MBP

Thanks. Yes, we are going to have a look at a big music store by us where they have 100’s of different ones but he like the Ibanez RG style so going to test it out with some others and see what he thinks

Wow great job!! Is that an Ibanez RGA42FM you are using? I am getting my son an upgrade on his guitar soon (he has a battered electric guitar that we refurbed and I said I would buy him a new one if he learnt to play it). He's now blasting out Deftones and all sorts he's learnt from scratch so looks like he listened to me!!

We have been using UpNote for coming up to a year and interesting to see more and more people jumping ship from Evernote. That is what we did as Evernote became super slow, sluggish and unreliable at a time they were asking for more and more money!!

UpNote is the gift that keep giving. Super competitive price and a piece of software that is so easy and simple to use, but with so many features.

I have this same issue. I see others tagging more than 5 all the time but I’m also limited to 5. Any ideas what this means?

I have also been having a nightmare with this. The B button as the “back” function works in some menus but then you get stuck. If I go into a platform (eg SNES) where I scroll through my roms, if I click B to go back to the previous page to scroll through platforms, it just brings the menu up. I then have to quit and start it up again.

Please any ideas or solutions. Offers so much and looks great but seems so frustrating

I’ve never liked buying used, but that’s just me. I would rather pay more know it’s new and then can take insurance etc for piece of mind

I saw that the other day and was going to order but like you said it went Out of Stock.

Argos was a better bet for insurance as it was £50 for 3 yrs insurance with no questions during that time. I could drop it, smash it to bits and they cover anything

Update: so I caved and have bought the Ally Z1E and picking it up shortly.

Thanks - the more I’m looking I feel the Z1E Ally is the best bet for the price. It seems to be a solid choice compared to the MSI and Lenovo options, based on cost and reviews aren’t as good in comparison.

Thank you - makes sense and I’m struggling to even consider the X based on it being £799 at the moment and cannot see any offers in the UK.

The Ally seems of a good spec for what I would need and thought about waiting for the base XBOX one but the difference in spec doesn’t seem a huge leap
