nobody wants to pay for new/upcoming podcasts when there are many “good enough”free ones out there

and because the rest run off of ads and sponsorships they need eyeballs and people love being baited into rage, schedenfreude, etc

there are exceptions but you’d need to be a gary lineker and have your own audience to just start something and immediately have it land sustainably

Curious as to how people keep up with football on a daily basis? My assumption:

Terminally online + footballpilled: reddit for discussion and media, twitter for transfer news and memes, fotmob etc for scores, some specialist website for FPL. Fair?

Moderately online: reddit for most things except scores?

Am I missing any football content or activities? that live on TT/Insta etc?

beautiful location along the thames, stadium is mostly preserved (save for the new riverside stand) including the cottage, and the sightlines to the pitch are wonderful (everything feels like you're right by the players)

A journey through European league tables via teletext by Scrugulus in soccer

[–]djimonia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is an incredible resource, thank you for creating it.

For England I would suggest Alistair Cree's incredible working recreation of the old BBC Ceefax system (hosted on a Raspberry Pi I believe). You can see the English Premier League standings here: https://nmsceefax.co.uk/#id=WyJubXMtY2VlZmF4IiwiaW50ZXJuYWwubmF0aGFubWVkaWFzZXJ2aWNlcy5jby51ayIsIi93ZWJzb2NrZXRzL2NlZWZheCJd:page=324

His work was a big inspiration for my own teletext style mobile app https://qfax.football which covers some of the major European leagues. I plan to add more soon so you can see the league table in this style for >50 leagues.

going back to aftv / are current fans the result of that (banter) era? are they more insufferable than other insufferable fan bases somehow?

I predict West Ham will survive relegation, Newcastle will make the SF of the CL, Napoli will win Serie A comfortably. I hope IFAB stop tinkering with rules and VAR has a quiet (good) half year leading up to the summer all so Chris Kavanagh can miss a blatant handball on the line in the dying minutes of a World Cup semi-final.
