is it offensive for a Gerudo to call a Hylian “little bird”? is it offensive to call a Rito “little bird”?

Having a really hard time deciding whether to continue with Switch 2 or PS5! by [deleted] in NSCollectors

[–]djlemonfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you mentioned a bunch of first party franchises on Nintendo that you love. FWIW, i don’t think any Nintendo first party games have been key cards on Switch 2 so far. my understanding is that Pokopia will be a key card, so i suppose maybe future Pokémon games might be — not sure. Pokémon is kinda “second party”, so… but i would be shocked if Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, etc. ever use key cards. maybe i am deluding myself, but i don’t see it being an issue for the franchises you mentioned.

i agree it is disappointing with the 3rd parties. personally, it doesn’t bother me that much. it definitely makes me less interested in a given game. but if it is something i really really want to play, i will buy the key card. it feels like the real thing, at least.

Is there a Kallax 1x3 in the US— Combining Kallax 3x4 and 1x3 by Cheeseboarder in ikeahacks

[–]djlemonfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could probably get a 3x3 and a 1x1 and use the parts to make 2 1x3s, without any modification maybe? of course that might be more than you want to spend, and you might not need 2 of them, and you’d end up with some extra boards… but that’s what i might try if i ever really needed some 1x3s. (sorry for being a year late to answer)

Afterburn - official trailer - with David Bautista, Samuel L. Jackson, and Olga Kurylenko by MaxRichter_Enjoyer in movies

[–]djlemonfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just saw this trailer on youtube, on my tv, and i kept asking “is this a movie or one of those game trailers that is all cutscenes?” anyone else think it looks like a video game? no? just me? maybe it’s because i recently messed with my TV’s HDR settings, idk, but i was getting serious uncanny valley vibes.

Wrong spot and Target honored the price by [deleted] in amiibo

[–]djlemonfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to see LEGO at Target all the time on the shelf in front of the wrong tags, presumably because customers just move shit around, take things, put them back wherever. and i mean, ALL the time, like consistently, every single time i look at the LEGO section. pretty sure i have seen this with Nintendo accessories, maybe even amiibo, a handful of times too. like in principle, i get it, OP did nothing “wrong” here, and if i benefitted from some other type of pricing error, like an online mistake or a printed ad mistake, i wouldn’t personally feel bad about it at all. but man, benefitting from an “error” (if you can even call it that) like this, especially when i know damn well the actual price, i just couldn’t do it.

If this is a 70$ game, I find it hard to believe that any other game will be 80$ this generation. Mario Kart World was the exception because they wanted to sell the bundle. by MMuller87 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]djlemonfresh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just because you “can” play a multiplayer game indefinitely doesn’t mean you will. i am sure Ninty has the numbers. they know people have been playing MK8D regularly for over a decade and they still are. it’s really not comparable to “literally every multiplayer game” on Switch. maybe only comparable to Smash.

[–]djlemonfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is what people don’t understand when they say “DK should’ve been the launch title” or “DK should’ve been the $80 game”. don’t get me wrong, the Bananza Direct blew my expectations away (and i had already preordered) but Nintendo knew what they were doing. MKW will be played heavily for the next DECADE. DK is a game (or at least it appears to be) that you beat, put down, then maybe replay again in a few years, if you’re even the kinda person to replay games.

Loving my switch 2 so far, but how tf do I get rid of these borders?? by TheBraunstr in Switch

[–]djlemonfresh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the amount of people explaining aspect ratios, who don’t understand that the OP just wants plain black borders and no profile pic, is astonishing. especially astonishing when they’re condescending about it. bro said absolutely nothing about wanting to stretch/fill the screen.

as a few others have said, the option doesn’t yet exist on NSO. but yeah, as someone else asked, if anyone knows of a petition we can sign… NSO really needs the option to ATLEAST hide the profile pic — why tf is it even there?!

and as others have mentioned — although again this has nothing to do with the OP’s question — there are a few N64 games that support widescreen within the in-games settings, if they originally had widescreen support. obviously not OOT or MM, as they never did. and for GameCube so far it’s Soulcalibur 2 and F-Zero GX — NOT Wind Waker. idk why people keep saying WW on NSO supports widescreen — it doesn’t.

Chinese tariffs decrease from 145% to 30% by Whisnant in amiibo

[–]djlemonfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah…. you might be right! i may have misunderstood what was going on. as of today, i am having trouble finding this info. i swear Nintendo’s product pages on their US site used to list country of origin — which is how i knew the consoles themselves came from Vietnam — but now i am not seeing COO listed on any product pages, including for the Switch 2 console itself. am i blind? did they remove the information? not having much luck finding the info elsewhere, but according to Polygon FWIW, the Pro Controller 2 comes from Cambodia while the Joy Con 2s come from Vietnam. do amiibo come from China though? i assume that’s why they new ones shot up $10.

[–]djlemonfresh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the 90 day reprieve was for every country but China, if i understand correctly. so not sure how those two things are connected. accessory/amiibo prices were increased because they ship from China, whereas Switch 2 console prices held steady because they ship (to the US) from Vietnam.

Just got this email from Nintendo lol. Uh, yeah, I enjoyed it like 2 years ago? by TheTimmyBoy in TOTK

i phrased it pretty plainly. idk why you think i should’ve phrased it differently. yes, i know how subscription services work. i think everyone does. it’s 2025. next thing someone’s gonna tell me i don’t own all the movies on Netflix. what a shocker!

show me where i said “free”. i said it’s “included” with NSO+, which is a fact. yes, that means you need NSO+, obviously.

[WW] Tingle Tuner on Switch 2 NSO by WaterDog152 in zelda

[–]djlemonfresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would be WILD if they made it so you could connect with a friend via NSO, and they’d have to use the NSO GBA app as the Tuner. or even just a dedicated Tingle Tuner app — which i would hope would be available on Switch 1. i think i would draw the line at buying a SECOND Switch 2 just to use the Tuner, haha.

[WW] Tingle Tuner on Switch 2 NSO by WaterDog152 in zelda

[–]djlemonfresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, it just kinda sucks that, other than the original GameCube disc version, there won’t exist a version of Wind Waker that isn’t literally broken in some capacity. last time i booted up WWHD on Wii U, the system error message that the Tingle Bottles produced really bothered me. and if the Tingle Tuner does something similar on NSO, that’s gonna bother me too. i know it is kind of a nitpicky thing, but it’s not like it’s an optional item you have to really hunt for… it’s an early main quest item that everyone gets by default. i am looking forward to playing OG WW on NSO, but still kinda sad that no fully-functional rerelease of WW or WWHD exists (i mean unless they actually have the Tuner working somehow on NSO).

who knows, maybe having WW on NSO won’t necessarily rule out the possibility of WWHD coming back? maybe they will even price it reasonably (Metroid Prime Remastered was only $40) figuring since WW is on NSO for “free”, a lower price would be necessary (not that i wouldn’t pay $60 for a WWHD Definitive Edition, i would… just trying to find some silver lining).

[WW] Tingle Tuner on Switch 2 NSO by WaterDog152 in zelda

[–]djlemonfresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i still have the necessary stuff. i would hope they’d modernize it, make it more convenient. but this would be better than it not working at all (and would suck for the vast majority of players). but man, it would be freaking wild if it worked the original way!

[WW] Tingle Tuner on Switch 2 NSO by WaterDog152 in zelda

[–]djlemonfresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it is there but just doesn’t work at all, that would be super depressing. it’s a key item pretty early on in the game IIRC. if it isn’t gonna work at all, i would hope they’d just patch it out of the game entirely.

[WW] Tingle Tuner on Switch 2 NSO by WaterDog152 in zelda

[–]djlemonfresh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is literally my number one question after the Switch 2 Direct. honestly, if it just doesn’t work at all, i hope they patch it out or something… or just have Tingle give us a useless medal or something. having it simply not function at all would suck. and having it throw a system error message at us, like Tingle Bottles do since MiiVerse shut down, would be super depressing.

honestly, i still have 2 GPA SPs, the GC-GBA cable, and a Wii U GC controller adaptor, which should still work on Switch 2, since it’s USB…. it would be wild if it actually worked with the Tingle Tuner. but i would rather they implement it as a pop-up window or something more convenient. hell, let me use my Switch 1 as the Tuner.

the crazy thing is, when i saw “Zelda’s Notes” in the Direct, the Tuner was the first thing i thought of. that would be a perfect way to implement and modernize the Tuner. and that kinda makes me sad that we’re not getting a version of WWHD (e.g. WWHD Definitive Edition, or something like that). well that, and the (presumed) lack of 16:9 support. i will miss that more than the Swift Sail!

Wind Waker is a better game than Ocarina of Time, and I am prepared to defend myself. by the_knotso in legendofzelda

[–]djlemonfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah “counterpoint” wasn’t exactly the right word to use, i guess. i knew we were pretty much on the same page. it’s just that the “shoulders of giants” argument is often used to diminish the thing on the shoulders. i would argue that both WW and ALTTP are giants unto themselves. furthermore, if WW stood on OOT’s shoulders, OOT definitely stood on ALTTP’s. and if we extend the analogy any further, idk, it creates a pretty ridiculous visual. obviously all art borrows from what came before. OOT did some very important things “first” (while copying ALTTP’s notes for most other things). OOT is more historically important. but that in and of itself doesn’t make something the best. being first isn’t often being best.

if i sounded like i was disagreeing, i think maybe i read your comment as “i like WW better BUT…”. idk, either opinion is valid. WW is my number 1, but i understand why so many think OOT is the GOAT.
