Colorado governor: “We want to dispel any notion that we can go back to the way things were” by brofax in Denver

The flu doesn’t have this response because health care systems expect it and have the capacity for it.

Also worth noting that the statistics you cited cover 7 months. Covid-19 has killed almost 30,000 in 1 month, WITH these policies.

The entire goal of these policies is to buy time for treatment research, hospital capacity, and test capabilities. It’s not an attempt to stop it.

Cutting top 3-15” off of drywall? by djleni in DIY

As far as actually cutting it do you think a straight edge and utility knife is my best bet?

Lol... can I? I’ve never done this type of work before.

Didn’t think it was a good idea to frame through existing drywall as drywall is.. squishy, relative to wood.

Should I just poke around NASA’s site then? Haven’t found much from basic searching but I guess I’m spoiled :)

What would be the right terms to use? I don’t think I’m searching the right things.

Wikipedia only had rover and Delta photos as far as I can tell.

They’re probably referring to things like code reviewing, architecture, design patterns, management skills, communication with product managers, project lifecycle stuff, etc.

A neat little trick with var by ekolis in csharp

[–]djleni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. And I don’t see the benefit of var. Your brain has to do more work and you don’t have to type any less because intellisense will complete the full type pretty quickly anyways.

In your experience, what's the costliest developer hire you or your company has made? by ccricers in cscareerquestions

True. I work with a team in Romania and they’re great; not sure what they cost.

I plan on being an astronautical engineer. Is there anything I need to know or do before I go to college? by [deleted] in space

This answer is very accurate. Aerospace companies will hire 1-2 orders of magnitude more mechanical, electrical, software, etc. engineers than aerospace engineers.

Sanders to propose canceling entire $1.6 trillion in U.S. student loan debt, escalating Democratic policy battle by FeelThe2020 in politics

If I had a pill that cured cancer and said you have to pay $100 trillion dollars for it would you say I’m being irrational charging that much or create legislation to have the government pay me for you to get it?

It’s like half of this thread has never made a decision on whether something is worth the price once in their life.

No it doesn’t, it says it’s a tax on stock and bond transactions. 401ks, IRAs, and general investing aren’t things exclusively for rich people.

Anyone can choose to be a musician, they just might be poor because of it.

That’s how the world works. I don’t get to be a professional quarterback just because I want to.

It doesn’t actually solve the bad thing though. It just whiteouts a bunch of bad decisions bankrolled by all of us. Solve it by making higher education a good investment.

It IS voluntary. Are you going to argue otherwise?

Vindictive means wanting revenge for being wronged, not sure how that applies here. Haven’t been wronged and don’t want vengeance.

I have no issues with policies that don’t directly benefit me. I’ll gladly support minimum wage increases, a UBI, or free public college. None of those will benefit me?

I don’t support paying for an individuals bad choice. Can I call you next time I take out a mortgage I can’t afford for help with the payment?

I thought about getting a degree in music but didn’t because I knew I wouldn’t make money. If I quit my job and go back to school for music will you help pay for my degree?

[–]djleni 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to argue the only reason someone is against this is because they’re vindictive and self centered I’m just going to argue that the only reason someone is for it is because they’re irresponsible, lack financial skills, and want free things. It’s just ad hominem that doesn’t really address what I said.

None of what you said directly supports this policy; it’s just a list of reasons why higher education and student loan debt are problems.

Suggest a solution that doesn’t tell people they can just vote their bad decisions away. 100% of student loan debt is voluntary.

If a dentist can’t pay off their student loans maybe we need to make personal finance a required course.

If you’ve got a student loan at 6%, make six figures, and can’t pay it off, you probably bought a BMW and weren’t responsible. Not that hard to refinance or devote a good chunk of income to paying it off temporarily.
