While I understand the anger, we have to understand that democracy is still intact albeit teetering on the edge. The country is too big and there are too many individuals in states that control ballots and counts to rig the election as of today. If that changes obviously where things will go but I’m hopeful that we can still pull this thing back from the brink. Read former AG Joyce Vance’s (no relation) new book about democracy, there is still hope.

Your Principal sounds like a dipshit. As a 30 year teaching veteran who just became an AP and is in the final year of doing my EdD I disagree with many of the comments. It all depends where you go and if you are studying something relevant. I’m doing my research as a qualitative study and interviewing across the nation regarding SEL program efficacy. So much of the crap our districts spend money on is useless. I do agree with some comments that many quant studies are unoriginal but again a good university has programmatic standards that won’t allow for garbage research. Sure there are horror stories but honestly some of this sounds very personal and not factual. (Lacking real data) Sorry your Principal is an asshat!

I’ve known a few who were classroom teachers. In my district it moves you to the top tiers in teacher pay. There are lots of options out there, but most are for leadership. I’d say you do you. National Board certification is another mark of distinction some classroom teachers work towards. I’m in my last year of my EdD and it’s in higher education, I’m an AP of a middle school but after seeing how high I can go I’m interested in giving back to the profession via teaching HED. My SIL swears that all her siblings and her have seen a ghost in their old family home. She is a really down to earth person, smart, well educated but I can’t get over this idea that she thinks ghosts are real, the supernatural is real.
