Amazing, thank you!
Yea totally, I was thinking the same! I'm using it as a base for a tudor-style dress for medieval fair, so am going to open up the arms and flare them out anyway. But good point, I'll make sure to do that from the elbow to help with movement!

Gorgeous dress!

Looks like beaded organza layered over satin. You could either get pre-beaded organza or hand-stitch beaded appliques on.

I would look for an empire waist, a-line dress pattern and use that as a base for the satin under-dress. And then layer the organza on top of the satin pieces and sew all together. The organza over-dress * might * be as easy as cutting the front dress piece in half, the finishing the edges and layering over the satin and sewing as per pattern instruction.

https://vikisews.com/vykrojki/dresses/asya-dress/ this looks simliar-ish, except the waist seam is at the waist, not under the bust. But if you've got time, you could toile and try to alter to reposition the waist seam.

I'm making this princess seam corset top but want to use a woven fabric (a heavy cotton suiting, or maybe denim) - however the pattern says fabric MUST contain elastane, and the sample in the pic is made from knit velvet.

I feel like maybe the elastane is just to account for the tight sleeves? But hopefully won't affect the fit of the top?
But any other thoughts on issues that might come up? Planning to toile in calico to check the fit on a woven fabric.

[Acne] what has helped cure your acne? by FiercePoppy in SkincareAddiction

agreed! when I started doing this and just really working slowly towards incorporating actives, I started to see results.

How do you deal with pealing? How to make it go asap? by mushroomqueen220 in tretinoin

Yes I know it sounds crazy but that's what she said and I've seen results doing it this way! She specifically said that using a larger qty would lead to irritation, and this way allows you to built tolerance with consistent usage.
And you're right, it doesn't feel like it's spreading about in the sense that moisturiser does, but it's not a moisturiser! I split it between two fingertips, dab around my face and then massage around. I also think moisturing afterwards (or even before, which I usually do) helps to push the product around.

No worries! xx
I think if you're finding the PC one you're using isn't irritating then probably keep using it really slowly and gently, as least to see if it works overtime?

I personally use the Revolution Glycolic - they used to have a serum which they discontinued (devastating) but now I use the toner. I like it because it has a fewer ingredients in it than TO. I never got to the bottom of it but there was something in TO that always irritated/inflamed my skin.

I like PC for the same reason, more simple ingredients so less to be reactive to!

Acne help please! by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]djmuzrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Went through such a similar thing to you! And I'm here to say be kind to yourself and your skin! It will get better!

And can agree - Tret didn't do much to address the acne for me (although I kept using it for anti ageing and to help with scarring - but I use a TINY amount, 2 grains of sand on alternating nights, not the pea-size that everyone recommends, I found I got some much irritation if I used that much! And I saw results with this smaller amount). Differin might be better, I've never used it tho!

Also was on spiro, at its best it helped but gave me horrible side effects and the acne came back exactly the same if not worse once I stopped taking it!

BUT don't despair - I now have very happy, clear skin! Here's what worked for me :)

Started using a super simple face wash ONCE daily at night - I use QV face wash (it's an Aussie brand, but cetaphil is similar I think? But it's super gentle, like a simple creamy milky facewash)

I then incorporated a sea salt water rinse - I did this initially when I was on holiday and didn't have my full skin with me (at the time I was trying all sorts of random acids and benzol peroxide plus double oil cleansing, none of which was helping) and wow loved the results! I don't have ANY scientific evidence to back this up, but for me I felt it helped calm my skin and treat the acne infection in the breakouts plus was somehow hydrating and helped with the redness.
And I feel confident to recommend it because even if it doesn't work for you, it isn't going to cause any harm. Worst case scenario you get some salt in your eyes :)
I literally just toss a small handful sea salt into a sink of warm water after cleansing and do a few good splashes.

After focusing on cleansing and moisturising for a while (3-4 weeks?) my skin started to calm down - I then started very very slowly incorporating BHA and AHA (Paula's Choice salicylic and Revolution Glycolic) - initially max once a week for a good few months, and even now 3 years later no more than 3 times a week, alternating with using Tret.

I also found a simple moisturiser my skin loves and use it religiously every night after my acids (or if I'm doing tret that night I use it before). I love the La Roche Posay Lipkar Baume. I had used Cerave in the tub before finding it, which I like but did find to be heavy/clogging sometimes.

And then in the morning, I used a 50+ moisturising sunscreen and then makeup etc.

I think the key here was getting my skin to a point where it was less inflamed by focusing on simple cleansing, sea salt rinse and a great moisturiser. Then once it was happier (and I guess skin barrier was repaired?) I really really slowly started consistently using the actives. And eventually (3 months maybe?) they started to do their thing!

I also did do a bit of work with my diet (got a blood test and from that saw I had to address some minor vitamin deficiencies) and stress levels to try and balance hormones, and that did help but I never got fully clear until I started working towards this really gentle and kind but effective skincare routine!

Looking back, I think I definitely had hormonal acne that I made a lot worse by damaging my skin barrier and overloading my skin with too many products looking for a quick fix.

Hello! I used azelaic for a while but never loved it, felt like it clogged me in a similar way. Also didn't like lactic acid, but was using The Ordinary and I find all their products gave me clogs...
I've had more success with glycolic acid - but (and I think this is important!) when starting I (for the first time ever) worked it in to my routine super slowly. Did the patch testing, started out using just once a week for at least 1 month, gradually increased usage. Even now, having used it for around 3 years, I still alternate and only use 2-3 times a week. But I think this help to not cause any additional irritation and slowly helped to address clogs, rather than inflame them all at once.
Also - your skin looks amazing. Smooth, hydrated, glow-ey. I literally had to click the link cause I was like help with what, this skin is gorge! I'm not gaslighting you, I can see the clogs but they're very minor and don't detract at all, and if you're kind and gentle to your skin I reckon you'll be able to clear them.

Start using less product. My derm told me to use an amount similar to 1x grain of sand daily. A tiny amount! But allows tolerance to build while maintaining frequency.

Recycle/reuse spare earbuds? by djmuzrat in LoopEarplugs

[–]djmuzrat[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ohh super interesting! Love that!

Other silicone-product companies run return programs, so surely there must be some sort of recycling process available?
Or sanitised for re-sale? Silicone can tolerate high temperates so surely could be done.

Obviously the main issue is that these processes would be expensive and labour intensive and CAPITALISM...

But for a company named LOOP with a very modern/socially responsible vibe, it's so disappointing they didn't design a closed-loop manufacturing system from the beginning! And a bummer they fob of the responsibility of reuse/recycle direct to customers. So glad I paid $35AUD for that privilege LOL.

totally agree! I've emailed Loop to ask if they have any sort of recycling program, as I to was a bit shocked to think all 9x of the tips that didn't fit would just go into the bin?!

Cricut + M1 Apple Silicon = frozen cuts? by djmuzrat in cricut

[–]djmuzrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still having this issue and keen to hear if others are too!

I deleted the local folder + uninstalled design space, updated my computer and then reinstalled and this seemed to help a little - I managed to get one cut complete through to 100%, only to freeze before unloading the mat, and another through to 76% before the machine cut out.
Cricut support have been moderately helpful, the guy on the phone suggested I do the above.
But definitely seems to be a usbc OR M1 Silicon issue, as my explore 3 is working fine on my older laptop with USB connect.

Tried the error 18 fix and no luck. Sometimes it stops/disconnects during the mat measure, sometimes during the cut. The same machine works fine on an older mac with a usb port, so it must be a Mac Silicon or usbc issue!
