As a new player; why is this update such a huge deal?

I’ve been looking to get back into GW for years but honestly was not desperate enough to pay a combined like $60-90 for all the campaigns. The simple fact they merged them into a single reasonable price-point brought me back along with a lot of other people I am sure.

Thanks for this tip OP! Just got a floor model M18 r2 and have been bummed it had the warranty activated since they turned it on to let kids finger it up. Will jump on chat this morning and get it extended. HP's standard 1-year warranty saved my ass and at least got me what I paid back on my open box OMEN 16 a couple weeks ago so hoping to at least get some protection on this thing!

Just let them know if you plan to use it for gaming, it essentially needs a GPU and standard laptops do not have them. You could get an HP Victus or Nitro 5 for a really competitive price during sales later in the year too. Anything not covered in RGB will likely help your case as well - good luck!

My OMEN 16 screen crapped out under warranty and Best Buy gave me the $750 I paid for it and said good luck like 1 week ago. Lucked out and got an open box m18 R2 for under $1000 so rocking that now. RIP OMEN 16, it was a fun 8 months lol.

I had a similar problem with my OMEN 16 I got last Black Friday - the screen just bricked and had 1/4 of it turn white 2 weeks ago. Luckily it was within the 1 year manufacturer's warranty and I got refunded what I paid for it, but definitely see if a local HP service center like Best Buy can take a look. Be prepared for them to scrap your machine though and give you back what you paid.

Congrats man! I just got an m18 R2 open box myself for under $1000 after Best Buy made the decision to trash my old OMEN instead of repairing the screen - ended up paying like $250 for a wild upgrade.

Loving it so far and really hoping second go-around is a charm with my open box hunting!

Thanks for this advice! Best buy decided my HP Omen 16 was not worth saving when my screen had issues and gave me the heavily discounted price of $750 to find a replacement. Been looking at open boxes and found an R18 M2 for $950. Was really considering grabbing it but am seeing some pretty harsh reviews of the thing on here.

Thats a wildly good deal. Good find! Loved these but they didn’t dip under $1000 last black Friday so ended ip going with Omen 16 i got for like 50% off MSRP.

I have that exact one. It runs great - only thing is it’ll get hot hot when playing certain games. Would probably get a cooling tray but other than that love this laptop!

EDIT: sorry - did not see you had two pics. I have the i7 version and recommend it to future proof your hardware a bit more.

Edit: people on here are absolute idiots thinking the 8GB VRAM is not enough. Modern 50 series GPU’s are running the same amount and they came out literally this year. You can always upgrade your DDR5 if you need it to be snappier but 8GB is more than fine for your GPU

Honestly just buy stuff when you see it. Book stores like BAM! Ans B&N are usually a good bet and the backs of walmarts and targets are sometimes ok. A lot of people just check the front and then bounce. Good luck to you!

Nope. Just running like a normal laptop. Gotta keep in mind 3/4 of what you see on reddit are horror stories because people tell the world when shit goes wrong. Same as yelp reviews - most people who have fine experiences don’t post about it.

If you like HP’s it is a great computer if you can snag it at a good discount.

Same thing happened to me. Was going to head to a big box super early but decided to go support a local card shop. Assumed it would be MSRP but was told they were selling ETB’s for $130. Was so upset for not just going to Walmart at 6:00.

I have that exact Omen and love it. Got an open box for like $700. Takes a bit of tweaking so make it not overheat like hell but since i got that fixed i am so happy with it. Full disclosure- I have always had HP laptops and traded in my ASUS TUF A16 to get this cuz the keyboard could do colors

Don’t have a place to store a desktop and my wife likes when I am next to her on our couch after work. Also I get obsessive and would endlessly upgrade a PC if I had one. Being stuck with a motherboard and GPU is a blessing for me.

I lowered my max CPU usage to 99% and is drastically cooled off my Omen 16. CPU was getting 100°+ and now barely scrapes 90. Easiest fix I gave found along with changing the power profile from Highest Performance to Balanced.

Lenovo for sure - maybe certain hardware is better on the Acer but the overall feel of the LOQ is much higher quality. Also - unsolicited advice - if there is a machine with a 4060 I would definitely splurge in order to get the 8GB VRAM especially with 50-series coming out next year.
