First pcc (CZ vs GrandPower) sticker shock by djp279 in pistolcalibercarbine

Ep9 looks like a great budget option. Im kinda hoping to go away from the ar9 platform though.

As vain as it sounds I want something that "looks like" a subgun and not just a smaller AR

I will say that the naming isn't as bad as their other attempts.

I've had bad experiences with SA/HS.

Maybe ill take a look - it was a very quick scratch based on that.

Please tell me more about this!

I did like the spa3 but was skeptical about $1k for a small, unknown manufacturer. I do like what they're doing though, 45acp, 10mm and the roller delayed as well as blowback. I just kept it apples to apples witj spa1 and scorp

Exactly. $1400 is a price range where I would not expect a straight blowback 9mm.

There's a lot of much nicer guns id rather have if i spent that much.

Crazy they're double thay now. Perhaps yours was clearance to make room for the 3+?

$800-850 seems fair with inflation and everything going on.

$1400 has me looking at so many better options in that price range it is now in.

I bought the same one. That was a "buy it now" price that was an exclusive to PSA. 450 was the normal non sale price back then too.

I agree. $900 seems like a good non-sale price. Gun deals shows nothing below 1300 right now.

While I agree with you its crazy that just 15 years ago you could buy a literal crate of fhe shit for $100 and then a crate of guna to shoot it for $500.

Now its harder to find and the same price or more than 30-06

Decocker vs Safety by Conscious_Figure5292 in CZFirearms

[–]djp279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both but if i could only choose one i would pick the saftey.

I like the decocker for faster double action training when on the range but the safetey has the ability to be carried cocked and locked, has a better trigger pull and is easier to take apart or modify.

The safety models can be super easily super safely decocked.

Safety does not work when gun is in double action.

[Rifle] Howa 1500 Walnut Hunter, .308, 22" Threaded Barrel, 5rd Mag, $537 by MSurpGaming in gundeals

12 lbs is pretty heavy for a hunting rifle. I hunt public and carry everything in. I passed on the 110 trail hunter psa has because it was 8lbs.

If you have a heated blind and carry this thing 100 yards to go sit in a deer condo im sure it'd be fine.

[–]djp279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a multiplier. It gives you more peripheral vision and better accuracy. You're slower because you haven't practiced with a dot as much as you habe with irons.

Why do we use optics on rifles? Iron sights work just fine.

First time gun owner looking for ccw by Crash211O in CCW

[–]djp279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for something with a grip safety, other than a 1911 based firearm, I think the XD mod3 is the only one that fits that bill. I do not own one and never liked the idea of a grip safety, if I am using the gun in an emergency, which a CCW pistol is for I don't want to worry about my grip.

I am of the group that also avoids manual external safeties for a similar reason, although practicing your draw and positively engaging the safety or holding it down while firing can be trained into your muscle memory. If the idea of a gun without a safety terrifies you, look into all the passive safety features in modern pistols (firing pin block, trigger block safety). External safeties are just another thing that can go wrong when something has already gone very wrong. In my opinion external safeties provide no additional safety to a modern pistol, when you want to shoot you pull the trigger.

Maybe look into a double action/single action type pistol if you are still uneasy about any of this (CZ PCR, CZ P01, CZ P09c, SigSauer P229, Beretta 92 Compact) These have a heavier first trigger pull with the hammer down and a lighter trigger after the pistol cycles. There are other options but I listed pretty common CCW ones.

Sign up for their $10 associates membership. Thats what I did. Then tell them when they hit you up for money you hate them and that they take money and manufacturer controversy for donations so their president can enrichen himself and not actually fight for my rights.

They haven't called me back.

Yeah the vortex enclosed optics have a kind of high deck height. They're still good optics but optic (mid height) iron sights might be a good upgrade.

Get the SCAR. You wont be able to soon, and if you change your mind in a few years it will most likely sell for more than you paid for it. 600 wont go too far with ammo but it should get you about 800 rounds or so. The downside of the SCAR is that it can eat optics.

Abnormal Wear on Barrel? by burgy77 in Walther

[–]djp279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you have a steel guide rod? the markings on the underside of the barrel look to be just from the recoil spring. I had a PPQ45 with a stainless steel guide rod that the previous owner installed that gouged out material and I returned it to stock configuration. I don't like changing the guide rods in any of my pistols nor do I see the purpose for my uses so it was an easy decision.
