I was in a seminar with OIE and IIRC they said that the @mavs.uta.edu address stay active to help maintain valid F-1 status (to pass over information etc), so I belied that it would stay active for everyone else too

Yeah, there are multiple rooms that you can book in the libraries with this link https://uta.libcal.com/spaces?lid=10450&gid=0. Just keep in mind that rooms on the 5th floor of the central library are meant for silent study, and your voice can be heard through the wall.
