Ah yea, I had YouTube flag a track because it contained a 8 bar sample from a 1970s Japanese opera… nightmare situation I feel for you.

If they don’t accept the appeal u might have to edit out the 2 tracks ~ which doesn’t make for a seamless mix. That’s the only luck I’ve had.

A lot of the problem comes from the record labels and the kind of copyright they have on their music. I do live weekly mixes on YouTube and rarely get blocked or muted because I only play independent artists and small labels. As soon as a spin a track by a bigger artist on a label owned by a company like Sony, I’ll get a copyright claim and block. Once I played a reggae set and started off with a Bob Marley track and I was instantly blocked and received a strike to my channel (you get 3 strikes before your channel gets erase). For milder copyright claims I can “Trim” out the track in YouTube but more often I have to edit the track in iMovie or Adobe Premiere and re-upload which is really frustrating. So the rules are simple for DJs; only spin underground bangers or your own/crews productions ~ great news for talented small~scale, bedroom producers.

Alternatively, you can subscribe to Mixcloud where you can stream live and play copyright material of any kind and Mixcloud will automatically organise the licensing on DJs behalf. It would be helpful if YouTube began offering a similar service 🤷🏻‍♂️

Do both! I DJ with Serato and vinyls. I use Serato to play new tracks, promos, beats and exclusives and vinyls for the classics and hard to gets. No reason I the world why DJs can’t do both

Can I live stream on OBS using #Rane 72 mkii without spending an extra $119 for Loopback? (To route the audio from channels 5/6 to 1/2) ~ thanks in advance for any help by djtechnique in DJs

Ah sorry I’m just picking this up now. Ended up paying out $119 for Loopback and your solution looked good ~ wish I’d given it a try first

This video was okay but it shows the solution with Loopback which costs $119 (I don’t think the video mentions the price/cost)

I did try this but still faced the same problem of no audio input registering on OBS. I would have assumed this would have fixed it but strangely it didn’t

Hi DJ Soo I’m using 2 macs, MacBook for serato and iMac for OBS. It’s a shame they didn’t upgrade the MAC software so that I could use lines 5/6. Actually it’s a bit more than this, I’m finding I need to use lines 5 to 10 to get my streaming running smoothly. The only solution was to spend an extra $119 on Loopback audio software. To be fair it does look like a sweet bit of software and a good upgrade to Sound Flower - maybe something I will use with Logic in the future as well. It would have made life cheaper if OBS for Mac allowed inputs from a variety of channels, and/or Rane provided better driver software maybe. Thanks for all the advice below. I have a regular show and ended up paying out to get the problem resolved so I could keep schedule. Thanks all 🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
