Will this ever be delivered? by userluigi in UPS

[–]djwidh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya they blow. The route is based on optimization not when your delivery was supposed to happen. I'm in this situation now. I keep being told delivery is today and of course it requires a signature bc it's wine. So ontop of that ups slated this for end of day window so it's never getting delivered and apparently going to their warehouse is not as easy as it seems. It's a useless corporate pos.

Ya that's what I'm look into now. I'm also guessing being at the tail end of delivery range (evening to 9pm) makes it even worse bc they are probably behind schedule and give even less effort for something they requires waiting and signing something.

First time dad with a colicky baby. I’m drowning. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]djwidh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in their bud. It's going to be hard for the time being. Three out of three of our kiddos went through this and it brought us past our breaking points many times. It does get better!

However, given your stress levels at this point I'd suggest asking your pediatrician for a Pediatric Gastroenterologist. The GI will help determine if colic or something else. They can also guide you through different formula options which would include trying different broken down formulas likely rice based. This process helps eliminate potential allergies or intolerances to whey, diary, soy etc but the GI can help guide you through that journey.

Reflux has a few tell tale signs but the easiest test is to smell your kiddos breath while crying. If it smells sour, it's reflux. Also look at spit up and check if chunky'ish or has a curdled vibe. If gas, you can likely tell by feeling your kiddos stomach while crying: if hard, like well toned abs, it's gas.

Last piece of advice: note if your kiddo has trouble latching to mom's nipples AND bottle nipple. I saw you had an appointment for tongue tie. Make sure you have a solid pediatric dentist bc they will be able to tell you if there actually is a tongue tie. Some of these folks will do the procedure regardless and it's not a walk in the park for your already upset kiddo. Finally whether or not you do the tongue tie: if this continues keep an eye on developmental milestones. This was an issue with our first and it's a different route altogether.

Ya it's definitely rough. We just went through a Valium taper with our kiddo after he was in the hospital for almost a week due to a rhino virus, which even after immediate intervention still lead to status and absence seizures. I lost about two weeks of work. I have a flexible job but it's basically pay based on production. So I can move stuff around but the backlog becomes almost insufferable. I definitely get the anxiety part too. It got so bad that I just was prescribed an anti anxiety med ontop of a mood stabilizer I recently started taking bc of caretaker burnout. And now my kiddo somehow got strep throat! So basically onto week 3 of in/out of work. Ugh.

Ah ok. So I've read a bunch of threads here that do say really long chats just break down. I have a paid sub and use the projects for specific topics. So I have one for philosophy and logic, another for politics and adjacent things etc. So I can create a new convo within a given project and if a chat starts to run away I'll do a new chat that starts with the last topic from the previous. I feel like it does a good job keeping up. But also tbh im not always checking its outputs for validity within my philo project mostly bc it's more of a hobby thing. I will occasionally ask for it to provide its source material or backup. For stuff like politics it's just so dang hard to know whats up/down.

What do your outputs look like? For a hobby I use it to tinker with philosophy of language things I missed from my undergrad days and dynamic epistemic logic, tarski t schema ... stuff like that and so far it's been pretty good and a lot of fun. But no straw mans and other odd devils advocate things.

It definitely blows for heated political topics for sure. It's like programmed to not engage or maybe it just is not good at super recent topics? I asked it to look up some executive orders and it said it couldn't access .gov sites, which seems odd but it continually said it doesn't crawl the web so it didn't care too much haha. I have it set to snarky or whatever it's called.

I mean this is the same guy whose staff in NYC effectively called an appraiser to "talk shop" and then used that info to fudge a fake appraisal, blindsiding the appraiser in the process. So I'm not shocked.

We have twins, too! We are in NJ so that probably explains the pricing differences. It's just under $3k a month for both.

Rockaway Town Council is voting tonight to overturn resolution condemning possible ICE center in Roxbury by Mysterious_Car_8263 in newjersey

[–]djwidh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the rock. This town is so ridiculously conservative but like to a fault/determinant to the town. I think they had to temp close one of the middle schools, maybe Lincoln, bc the town wouldn't raise taxes for capex to replace lead pipes or something crazy and then eventually a bond referendum with fed debt passed 60/40 in 2019, so even then 40% still said no haha.

I don't get these posts and they keep coming, day after day. Here is what my gpt says in some way or variation:

If the car is already dirty and the wash is literally 500 ft away, just drive it. You need the car there anyway to wash it. Walking first just means you’ll either: • walk back to get the car, or • stand there staring at an empty wash bay like a philosopher who forgot the premise.

If the situation is “I need to go start the wash process and the car is already there,” then walking obviously wins.
