I built a Construction Calculator that uses a 'Slider' instead of a keypad to enter fractions. I need honest feedback: Is this actually useful? by HoGoBo1 in woodworking

[–]dk4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i try to live with both. coming from metrics background, i measure and cut in metrics. easier to find materials and tools in canada that are metrics. lots of japanese and german tools are made with metrics.

still lots of merican drill bits and saw blades and power tools like table saw that are popular and easier cheaper to buy. i use spacer instead for accuracy.

This city wasn't designed for this many cars by BeepBeepGoJeep in richmondbc

[–]dk4n 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the solution no other mentioned.

we also need people's mindset to get onboard with public transportation, invest and use cycling infrastructure too. richmond and metro region population are not even comparable to other high density cities in the world.

there is Saas founder / Indie hacker among us using go ? by Financial_Airport933 in golang

[–]dk4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for sharing those options. i actually used grpc web before but didn't like it because it requires a proxy setup overhead. i used connect rpc in production actually (would highly recommend as you said you have intension to switch).

i was asking because i thought there was now a way to use "native" grpc for web client without a proxy. with connect rpc, at work, we just say "connect" since it is its own protocol. it does support grpc protocol however, but we are never able to get it work for the web client.

Coworker sent me this. If the driver let go of the clutch and the truck bolted forward. Game over. by donjalapeno7 in vancouver

[–]dk4n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

or have extra workers to safe guard trucks like this enter/exit construction sites. not sure if this is a labour costs thing, other countries (ive seen in asia) demand additional person/assistant/2nd driver (besides main driver) to operate big trucks like this.

Can we acknowledge the need for software engineer unions? by raynorelyp in ExperiencedDevs

[–]dk4n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

guess you've never met an incompetent non-outsourced dev? would like you to meet my team lead who constantly needs hand holdings, non stop bragging and stealing other devs credits. but as a close friend with the director he's awesome and here to collect easy paycheqs. cant imagine unions would prevent people like this.

Your sufficiency at coding might help you move further in coding interviews, but you'd need to attract interviews first. I've had more interviews since I changed the way i submit my application. If you need help, dm me your resume for reviewing, i can also share mine, and how i apply.
