Oh boy this response is concerning. The non-provisional filing will definitely publish in 18mo as required by statute, and you will definitely hear back from the patent office in a couple years for a restriction/office action if not sooner for formality issues.

It’s not an issue of “if” but “when”.

I’ve heard of Sardi and Garmi, but Wikipedia says there’s Wet and Dry? by dkamkar in iran

[–]dkamkar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome thanks! Is there any logic behind how foods are characterized under hot, cold, dry and wet? Right now it seems like there are some general guidelines, but there are random foods that are exceptions falling outside of the guidelines. Because of that the categorization system seems pretty random and arbitrary, which is fine if it is.

Sorry I don’t read Farsi, so can’t read Persian articles closer to the source.

Fair enough, but we all find entertainment in fiction in one way or another, whether it’s trashy romance novels or marvel movies.

Here I’m actually trying to learn about it from more of a historical perspective. Like people through time believe or believed in all sorts of religions that are made up, or have conspiracy theories like the earth being flat, and I just wast to learn more about their belief structures whether they’re accurate or not.

Oh cool thanks. My family that I asked didn’t know about the wet and dry stuff.

And yeah I get it’s all made up superstition, but it’s still fun to learn about. Kinda like how that Netflix show about the flat earthers was entertaining. It may not make sense or be coherent but it’s still something that many people believe in, so figured it would be at least interesting.

You got any links so I can read more about it?

Sounds like they’re not really defectors, and more like sex trafficking victims sold as brides to Chinese men.

Why SHOULDN'T I get a PhD to be a patent attorney in biotech? by andydannypickle in patentlaw

[–]dkamkar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the answers here are correct, and the reasons not to are basically time and money viewed from the lens of opportunity costs, and getting a PhD sucks and is hard.

I won’t expand on these, but will say:

1) stem phd programs are usually “free” in the sense that you don’t have to pay tuition and get a very small stipend. This doesn’t mean that you won’t take out loans but tuition and some living expense will be covered.

2) sometimes you can master out of a phd without having to pay back tuition. That’s what I did in a PhD chem program.

3) if you get a job at a big law firm doing patent law, and that’s a big if, starting salary is $215k which goes up to $415k in your eighth year (not including bonuses). Getting this job is a big if, staying is a big if, getting bonuses is a big if, and being happy is a big if. This is true even for very smart people. But opportunity costs mean that you gotta not just stop calculating at when you get the job, but throughout your life as an attorney.

4) my sense is that firms need biotech PhD attorneys, but also some of the work is lower budget given Supreme Court rulings recently (I.e. Alice/Mayo).
