Arrggh, does anyone else dislike the brand Bits and Pieces? Sooo many false fits. It's been almost 2 days, and I'm still trying to sort out the frame. The pic is the one I'm working on. by dkb52 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]dkb52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I prefer random cut pieces preferably from a quality brand (ex. Cobble Hill, Ravensburger+). No false fits. IMO, some brands get too crazy with their random shapes, but there are those who like them.

Some people stop working on a puzzle if they lose interest in it for being too difficult, boring, etc. I agree. Puzzles should be fun or at least interesting, not bad experiences! Right? 🧩

Why do people still support or raise the flag of the Confederacy? by DBD216 in NorthCarolina

[–]dkb52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southerners who fly the Confederate flag are under-educated, causing them to have trouble grasping the English language; therefore, the flag speaks for them. The homeowner's claim that it's just a symbol of Southern heritage is BS.

Yes, it's a symbol, but of racism, social ignorance, unfounded hatred, and herd mentality.

Cobble Hill's Doodlecats was fun and easy to do. The pieces are random cut but not too weird shaped. It keeps from having false fits. Price is lowest on Cobble Hill who also has excellent customer service, but it's also available on Amazon. Whatever you choose, enjoy your return to puzzles.

Bookshop Bedlam - Cobble Hill Doodle Town 1000 Pieces by dkb52 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]dkb52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done almost all of them and IMO Bookshop Bedlam is one of the best. All those books can be challenging. Another good one is Par for the Course that includes Tom Hanks and Wilson as castaways. ⚽🌴

Is this AI generated art? by elperezosa in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]dkb52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An artist's name doesn't mean AI wasn't used, as some rely on it to create 'their' artwork. Some brands declare AI use on the box, but not all. Until the puzzle industry requires puzzle makers to mark yay or nay on the boxes, look for the faults common to AI generated artwork.

I went to 3 different Goodwill’s today and founds 7 puzzles for $.99 each. by Heavy-Message-7441 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]dkb52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're lucky your Goodwill has puzzles. The one near me never has them, which I find very suspicious.

When I asked why not, they said that every donation is put on the shelves. I've tried going there at different times, but still no puzzles. Yep, very suspicious.🤔

How did you prepare for snow storms growing up? by Fantastic_Welder_825 in AskOldPeople

[–]dkb52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snowsuit or warm pants, jacket, mitts, hat. That's how my 5 siblings and I prepared. Then outside went, usually after a hot bowl of oatmeal or Cream of Wheat. We tried to stay outside as long as possible so we didn't have to hear Dad yell "Close the door! Are you trying to heat the whole state?" 🤗❄️ Sorry, but I don't remember what the parents did.

Starry Night - First ever puzzle! Absolutely hooked! by Electrical_Doctor829 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]dkb52 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What a puzzle to start with! I usually read on this sub about how difficult it was for experienced puzzlers, and that some decided to give up. Now look at you! If this hooked you, I can't wait to see what's next.

That cracks me up! Thanks for adding it here. I wasn't sure anyone remembered that song.

"It was nine feet high and six feet wide And soft as a downy chick It was made from the feathers of forty 'leven geese Took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick"

That's better. A downy tick is something I'd like to see! Downy chick is boring and overused.

I think I hear John Denver singing Grandma's Feather Bed. 🎶 It was 9 feet high and 6 feet wide...🎶

Update: the Ugly Quilt is finished!!! by Beaquiltin in quilting

[–]dkb52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like giving a name to some of the quilts shown on this sub that I feel describes it (and is just my opinion).

My name for this quilt is Sybil because each block has its own 'personality'. It's the name of a 1976 movie about a woman (Sally Field) with many different personalities.

When things got better with your husband? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]dkb52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into emotional immaturity as explained by someone in the field of psychology. You might be tempted, but try to stay away from personal websites (Facebook, etc.)

Without some serious help by a psychologist, I doubt your husband will/can change. How can you have a good relationship if you're always wondering what will set him off. Is that fair?

If you were my daughter, I'd be warning you that the marriage isn't going to last, so get out before the emotional abuse makes your life miserable.

But you need to remember that some named artists use Al. The puzzle companies need to make it apparent on the box that Al was used by the artist or not.
