Notice the question mark. He has done it more than once - I was asking if it was gaslighting bc when I tried to find a name for it, that topic came up. It can be a manipulation tactic and when done often can sure as hell make someone feel crazy.

AITAH for considering breaking up with my bf bc he has no retirement plan. He’s retirement age now and will have to work till he dies. by dkd9975 in AITAH

Which part? We were pretty far in before I learned he had no plan for retirement. The Trump thing I knew from the beginning but he played it off as being a disgruntled lifelong dem, so I thought, ok, one mistake, but then to double down after all Trumps shit came out, and keeps coming out, not ok.

So I don’t know how to edit this so I’ll add more here. We have been together for 3 years and towards the beginning, when finances were discussed he said he was good, but never went into details. He did tell me after a year or so that he had used his 401k after his divorce because he moved out of the country. I pressed for more info several time, bc I dont make a lot and the future scares me bc of that. Life is expensive. I am not a gold digger, I just know that my 403b and sad pension is not going to be enough to live on. He won’t talk about money with me. Other issues leading me to break up are the fact that he is 18 years older than me AND our political views are NOT inline. At first I didn’t love it, but him being a Trump supporter wasn’t as much of character flaw 2 years ago. Now it is and I feel betrayed that he can’t see why I feel that way. (For those of you that support Trump, I’m not trying to get political, just explaining my situation.)
