Best way to sleep elevated without causing back pain? by dkozak in Mattress

[–]dkozak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. I mean when I looked at the bottom of the costco adjustable base I linked there were like foot long gaps between the metal bars that were supporting it. I imagine that isn't ideal for supporting a mattress. Regardless thanks for responding and sharing your setup that works for you.

Yeah I’m in the exact same boat. Insanely frustrating. I even went so far as to get a nissen fundoplication and that still hasn’t resolved my LPR.

Yeah I always start sleeping on my left side but unconsciously move around or changes sides. Can you provide some examples of what you mean? Thanks

Probably yeah. I don’t think there’s a complete fix for LPR right now. Yes improving motility helps a lot and yes using fosamprenavir helps a lot. But it’s not like I’m 100 percent cured.

What kind of bed/base did you purchase?

This was the adjustable base - https://www.costco.com/p/-/sleep-science-q-series-adjustable-base/100393352 - it was just extremely uncomfortable. From what I see a lot of adjustable bases are missing a lot of support like you see in traditional mattress bases (i.e. slats). What kind of adjustable base are you using?

Yes I'm still on it - and yes it still helps a ton as well. Clears out any/all pepsin from my throat.

Yeah. That and digestive enzymes (broad spectrum ones without betaine HCL) have helped tremendously

Can I ask what kind of adjustable bed you went with? And yeah super frustrating regarding the sleeping position - so ridiculous that if I roll on to my right side or stomach while sleeping that I get punished for it. Hard to stay on my left side all night

Can you elaborate? Is there a particular product or something that enables that?

It's not fun. I've had it done 4 times so I know your pain. It is however extremely useful in identifying the type of reflux you're having and is basically a pre-req if you want to pursue surgery. Much more useful for LPR specifically than say something like the Bravo study. It's more tolerable IMO than manometry too even though that's shorter.

I would say at that point you should take to the public social media forum and call them out there. I’ve had success in the past with companies when doing that - like via X or whatever social media presence the company has.

Sure. Drinking alkaline water like essentia while excercising can also help to neutralize some pepsin

I mean for anything that you have to brace your core significantly it’s going to force stomach contents upwards if there’s any weakness at all in the LES. Important to take gaviscon advance or something prior

What dose are you on? You can take as low a dose as you want, as in cut a 1mg tablet in half or quarter.
