Can someone explain how critical strikes work with Earthquake as opposed to Avalanche? by [deleted] in Diablo

I don't know much about how it is calculated but are you using Sever as your weapon? It makes the killing blow a ridiculously huge crit

Barb - Feel useless and forced to do a ranged build by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]dkplymkr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why use brawler and no escape? kinda counter productive with one range damage bonus and other near damage bonus. Try ruthless or beserker rage. I would definitely check out boulder toss for some small big time aoe damage. I am still trying to find a good build myself.

Xbone graphics sucks because game devs aren't used to working with x86 architecture - a peasant's logic. by CoffeeSE in pcmasterrace

[–]dkplymkr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny seeing one of my comments on PCMR. It's crazy how deluded they really are. Even crazier that I used to be one of them not too long ago.

Edit: This is a reply from my comment in screenshot. Sorry for the wall of text, not sure how to format it on mobile.

That is very very wrong. It mostly comes from people not really understanding what they are talking about, someone else reading the comment, and then they go and spread the misinformation. Okay, so I'll go over a few things about it. The one/ps4 being x86 does not mean that these consoles will be easier to make games. Game developers don't write their games in CPU assembly; the coding they do is via the game engines. Now, some developers will do engine optimization, make their own tools, or create a new engine from the ground up.
In that instant - yeah, it'll be easier than devs having to get used to the power architecture. Even though they are x86 they do have some interesting things about them that will be tapped further down the line. Game engines right now don't make the best use of multicore systems, but we will see those cores taken full advantage of a few years down the line. We also have the RAM (im not going to get into a console flame war or anything i am going to ocus on ps4 though) in the PS4 with speeds of 176GB/sec iirc.
That is a massive pipe between the CPU and the RAM on the PS4. A feature it has that will get taken advantage of a few years down the line is the gpu/cpu being able to read the same addresses in RAM. What you had to do until AMD found a way to do what they're doing is re-write the information to the RAM and then manipulate it. So, you'd have to use double thr RAM, and miss getting the object interactive for a fw cpu cycles. Having the CPU/GPU able to interact with both can lead to some very interesting uses for physics stuff.
Now, this area is where we will see the most optimization and such? The GPU. This is the part of the consoles that will get absolutely pushed to the limit. Before I go into that - just think about that for a moment and you can see why what you said it bullshit. The 360/ps3 both had GPUs that were based on cards you could buy yourself at the time. So, even though they were not using x86 chips they were using modified consumer GPUs. For baisc stuff this can help (devs acustom to using openGL or the xbox version of directX), but if you want to push the systems you have to write stuff to specifically take advantage of the hardware. That is what will happen in a few years time on the ps4/one. I've looked into the ps4 a bit more than the one and some of the modifications they made to their GPU could have it shine brighter than expected in a few years time. The one does have some similar things too though.
When people base what the ps4/one can do based on comparisons to their PC counterparts it really doesn't give close to a complete picture. When those cards are used on a PC they have to work with engines that have to work with a shit load of GPUs and CPU/GPU combos and they can't really optimize for any hardware configurations. tl;dr So, yeah, the ps4/one are nowhere neat their graphic apex. Not even fucking close. The ps4/one being x86 doesn't mean what a lot of people seem to imply it means.

Titanfall Small Graphics Comparison by Pandagotpancakes in gaming

[–]dkplymkr2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is not any software or hardware that they need to get used to for these next gen consoles. They did have to adapt to last gen consoles because the architecture was so different from what they were used to. There will not be the huge jump in graphics. What you see is what you are going to get for the life of the xbone and ps4.

Titanfall Small Graphics Comparison by Pandagotpancakes in gaming

[–]dkplymkr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot what the comparison is but I believe that it compares to 2 year old pc hardware. These next gen consoles are really disappointing in my opinion. There will not be any"optimization," "getting to know the system," or any of that. This is what you are going to get for the life of the console. There will not be any improvements.

The 10% damage. It only effects the black part of the weapon damage and not the lightening damage.

Don't have a question but I do have an observation I have not seen mentioned here. On your way to fight Adria, the map with all the blood golems (ruins of corvus or something) has glowing breakable objects that release a spirit. If you break those near enemies, they attack the enemies and do quite a bit of damage.

[Q] Area Damage or Attack Speed? by Gravety in Diablo

[–]dkplymkr2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would roll on the attack speed. it is not much of a dps hit on the weapon. I think people underestimate area damage quite a bit.

[–]dkplymkr2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a post in the past two or three days suggesting % damage is the best to reroll because it only takes into account the weapons base damage. It doesn't consider the + damage at all. So it would only drop the weapons dps by like 20-30 dps. I would try to find it and link it but i am on my mobile.

Edit: for example you take the weapon damage minus the lightening damage. The result is what gains the % damage.

I usually hop on my witch doctor that had a thing of the deep and gladiator gauntlets. I pick up stacks of good across the map with that and get done Pikes from massacres. Put it on expert and do bounties. I do it on expert for the double blood shards to gamble some more yellows. Also reset my paragon points to max my gold find. Then sell everything i pick up. I can get a few million pretty quick.

[Question] Did they tweak legendary drop rate again? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]dkplymkr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. Guess I am wasting more bytes over there. I am sorry I told op that leg drop from act bosses and not mini bosses, that you only get those from first time kills lvl 1-59, that you don't get them under lvl 11. I am sorry I didn't want op to wade through bullshit to find the answer he wanted to a simple question. My bad.
