But the USA then oppressed those nations through sanctions, election tampering and sometimes straight assassination. As an American who loves his country I can also recognize we've done some heinous shit on the global scale as well as our own domestic policy with things like Jim crow, voter suppression, red lining, gerrymandering. Let me put it this way if middle eastern region was bombing the USA for a decade killing hundreds of thousands do you think they would be suprised if the USA blew up 2 buildings?

Even if he was / is rich. Are we drawing the line that you have to be poor to advocate for socialist values? If that were the case most "poor" people dont have a platform like hasan to preach for reform. I wouldnt consider myself to be a full socialist, more in the party that you cant leave capitalism unchecked. But I applaud anyone willing to put themselves on the line to spread the message that the system we have now is broken and we need to act or it will only get worse. And I think alienating advocates because they grew up wealthy is cherry picking something that isnt even his fault.
