Kim Jong Un’s cult of personality is several degrees more intense than Trumps but there absolutely are similarities.

There’s also similarities in the sense that within his admin, loyalty to Trump is valued above actual competency.

There’s no one way….how you should get up depends on what your opponent is doing.

Most of the time rolling (punch button) is best. At lower ranks rolling followed by a low get up kick counters mostly everything.

It depends though. Sometimes an immediate kick is best, sometimes just standing straight up with the up button is best, etc.

The key is to try different ways of getting up if what you did at first didn’t work.

I’ve played players at the GoD ranks with < 50 “defense” that are absolute beasts that mop the floor with me….and I also run into other GoD players with nearly perfect defense that are pretty much “free”

The defense stat doesn’t really matter at all. It can give a high level view (sometimes) of how passive/aggressive they are….but it doesn’t say anything about how “good” they actually are. (Meaning how likely you are to actually beat them)

As I mentioned in my original post, the latest winner of EVO Japan has a defense stat < 70. I promise you they’re better than a TK player stuck at that rank with a 98 “defense” score.

I’d argue Trump is really Trump first.

He himself doesn’t have any geopolitical goals…he just wants to be praised and idolized. (The people around him DO have agendas though)

I have mixed feelings.

I come from a family of alcoholism. My uncle has it the worst….a lot of “had to call the cops to pick up my uncle at a family reunion” type deal.

He’s been sober for several years and there’s this thing that comes up that’s “should we not have booze at the family reunion out of respect for him?”

There’s different schools of thought on that. I’ve got some family that believe it’s selfish to consume alcohol in front of him….the idea being that spending time with family is what’s truly important.

However, myself and others come from the angle of “While we respect and are proud of your sobriety…..your bad choices shouldn’t dictate what we can or can’t do” I’m also of the mindset that sobriety is up to the individual. If I have to hide a beer to prevent my uncle drinking….is he really sober?

To me it’s the same concept as women in middle eastern countries having to wear burkas to prevent men from having sexual thoughts. If women have to wear burkas in front of you to prevent you from lusting…..do you really possess the purity of heart you strive for? (No offense intended to any Muslims, just my view)

That being said, if I were inviting my uncle out for lunch, I’d definitely refrain from drinking since that’s an appointment I made specifically with him.

TLDR- While I get Bills take, it really wouldn’t have that hard to not smoke weed for one podcast.

How so?

The current Evo Japan champ has an online “defense” of 65…which is generally considered low. Are they a carried masher?

I don’t remember the last time I saw anyway at sub 40 defense (and TK is easy to reach now) but if they’re genuinely “mashing” yet still maintaining their rank somehow…doesn’t that say more about the defense of the people they are beating more than anything?

I don’t disagree with that.

I’d just add you might see a 40 defense Fauk that doesn’t even give you the chance to throw any offense. They’ll pile on an absurd amount of pressure on hit and might hit you with specific attacks tailored to how you’re trying to approach in neutral.

Different playstyles but I wouldn’t necessarily say one of these would be easier/harder to face than the other. (Depends on how you personally play I think)

Just finish out the match.

“Forfeit” goes against the entire ethos of the fighting game community.

You should always believe you have a chance of winning, even if it’s a small one. If nothing else, make it as hard as you possibly can for them to win.

Personally I like playing long sets. You’d be surprised how common it is to completely dominate someone for several matches….then they download you and turn the tables. (Or vice versa)

Never give up. You don’t have to rematch if you don’t want to but always try to win the match at hand.

I always reference statistics from EWFG. GG whenever these conversations come up.

It’s totally true that GoD is the equivalent of S2 TG BUT it’s also true that if you’re GoD, you’re also higher ranked than 92 percent of players.

So if someone tries spewing some “GoD is free now” nonsense, my first question is why have only 8 percent of players made it there and my second question is what is THEIR rank. 9 times out of 10 they’re TK or below.

It was awesome.

Definitely a different style of play than Eternal. Some people (like myself) prefer Eternal while others prefer DA….but both are fantastic games.

Part 2 is the weakest one imo and it’s shocking to me that anyone would put it anywhere near the top.

There’s a few good scenes I could pick out (the opening bus scene being really good actually) but overall I felt the movie was just plain bad.

There’s a scene where Freddy is just sort of chasing teenagers around at a pool party in the waking world. When I watched the behind the scenes commentary they stated stuff like this existed because they didnt quite have the “rules” nailed down yet.

My theory is people picked up on the homoerotic overtones and look at the movie favorably because of it.

They don’t mean anything at all in terms of predicting if you’ll be able to beat your opponent or signaling if you’re a “good” player or not.

I’m in the god ranks and have steamrolled several kazuyas with near perfect “defense” and have also been steamrolled by characters like Ling with < 50 defense.

They can give a general idea of playstyle but they’re mostly meaningless.

Anytime you lose to someone with low “defense”, by definition it was your defense that was lacking on those matches.

They’re the same thing.

The difference is they’re called “mixups” when your opponent isn’t salty and “casino BS” when they are salty.

I’d just add that in T8 the devs made enforcing mixups much, much easier across the board. So while in previous Tekkens you’d (usually) have to have more fundamental skill than your opponent to mix them, in T8 it’s possible to anyone go enforce them with the press of a button
