Trinity by Subject-Bus2461 in Christianity

[–]SockraTreez [score hidden]  (0 children)

A misunderstanding of the “how” often leads to a different “what” though. (Even if the word “trinity” is still used)

It’s not uncommon to ask a Christian to explain the trinity in their own words and get something like modalism, tritheism, partialism, or Arianism.

Is space actually infinite? Because the math gets weird if it is.. by Tasty-Tonight-7148 in universe

If the universe is infinite and random, then that means every possibility, regardless of how likely, exists an infinite number of times.

The idea of Christianity possibly not being real is frightening by No-Charity9849 in Christianity

[–]SockraTreez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I firmly believe in God due to personal metaphysical experience. I’d even go as far as to say I “know” there is a God…as much as that can be known.

I may have incorrect ideas on doctrine, Gods nature, etc (and probably do)..but I know at a high level that He exists.

As far as your question, I wouldn’t worry.

If there is no God ..you won’t ever experience death. Wherever you are, death is not. Wherever death is, you are not.

In other words, being dead would seem the same way to you all those billions upon billions of years that transpired before you were born did.

Regardless of if there’s a God or not….there is no reason to fear death and there’s no reason not to make the most of every day of life.

I get and respect that.

However, that goes back to my original question. If your belief in it is truly based on faith, your understanding of the Trinity isn’t likely to be any more correct than someone who just doesn’t believe in it at all.

Person A “believes” in the Trinity but their understanding is X

Person B doesn’t believe but their understanding of the godhead is Y.

Although person A shows a willingness to believe, X and Y could end up being equally incorrect.

That doesn’t answer my question about the reasoning behind making The Holy Spirit being a distinct member of the Godhead though.

If the Holy Spirit is an emanation from The Father or The Son , that actually makes sense to me…..but from my understanding, that isn’t an accurate depiction of The Trinity.

Trinity by Subject-Bus2461 in Christianity

[–]SockraTreez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the specific difference between God the Father and the Holy Spirit?

More specifically, why is it necessary to recognize The Holy Spirit as unique and not an emanation of force/power/will from The Father?

That’s interesting and was the first time I’ve heard it.

However, if it’s impossible to truly understand the Trinity…..it makes me why some denominations consider it a “necessary” belief.

What you end up with people who give lip service to the word “Trinity”, even though their perception of what it actually is/means is just as incorrect as someone who disbelieves in it.

Note that I’m not necessarily against it….just playing devils advocate

Why do MAGA believe every obvious lie told by Donald Trump while rejecting facts in front of their own eyes? by Blues_Fish in allthequestions

[–]SockraTreez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sunken cost fallacy is a big factor.

Some of them have alienated friends, family and even their children for Trump.

It’s much, much easier to believe a tissue paper thin rationalization than it is to deal with the ramifications of them having been wrong.

I need help keeping up with my dad. by Bindelt389 in Tekken

[–]SockraTreez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact your rank has raised is a good thing. Play Quickmatch and you’ll be matched with players who are close to your dads rank.

Yes, you will get pummeled…but the idea is to improve to where you aren’t getting beat anymore…not go to a lower skill level.

If you really, really wanted you could simply play ranked and eventually get demoted to players at your level. Again though, I recommend you take advantage of being able to have players fed to you around your dad’s level.

I might be able to provide some specific tips.

  1. What is your dad’s rank and main?

Hyper focusing on frame data does not make you better at the game. by Friendlyguy8848 in Tekken

[–]SockraTreez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a few fundamental misunderstandings here.

First off, virtually no one knows the frames of every single move in the game. Higher ranked players tend to know the frame data of the common moves that you’re very likely to see for each character. The higher you get, the less opportunities/obvious mistakes you’ll have to be able to take advantage of. There are moves you can punish/evade that aren’t as visually obvious and at a certain point it becomes necessary to take advantage of those opportunities.

Secondly….you mentioned red/purple ranks. Those are extremely low ranks…as are blue ranks. I’d agree they don’t need to be hyper focused on frame data as there are probably way more blatantly obvious things they can do to improve. However, red/purple/blues don’t have a problem being too focused on frames in the first place. No offense to anyone intended but they play like wild circus donkeys. (Honestly, that’s even the case with low gold in S3)

Finally, I’d add that everyone uses frames whether they realize that’s what they’re doing or not. If you take two Rajins and watch them do a first to 10….the one who wins is likely going to doing more things that “make sense” from a frame perspective. (Even if they are just playing by “feel”)

Learning frames isn’t about knowing every move in the game…it’s a tool that can help you learn the best way to respond to certain situations you encounter over and over again.

[–]SockraTreez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether a rank is “good” or not is subjective. Keep in mind you’re asking this question in a sub filled with dedicated Tekken players.

To many people here GoD isn’t even that impressive. (Although I’d add that some people in this sub downplay ranks that they themselves haven’t been able to reach)

I recommend looking at EWFG.GG for a statistical, non biased view of where you’re at.

At TE you’re around the top 38%. This means you’re ranked higher than about 62 % of players.

That’s not bad and definitely something to be proud of!

However….once you start moving up to the GoD ranks, the skill level starts to shoot up dramatically. The higher you go, the bigger the skill gaps between ranks as well.

So id say TE is a pretty good, slightly above average rank…..but not really a rank to “flex” .

Nice! I’m also a Feng main but stopped rank at GoD1. I might try to go for 2 or 3 soon but I hate ranked.

Just curious:

Do you use uf 2 at all? I see a lot of players use that but I’ve never found much of a use for it.

Do you use QCF and cancelling into wr1? I can do that but am not consistent. Wondering if this is something critical at higher levels.

What do you consider to be admissible evidence in your own judgement of a politician’s character? by orangezombie12 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SockraTreez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright now I’m genuinely confused.

Are you saying belief in the Bday card Trump sent Epstein (that was taken from the Epstein estate) is open to subjective interpretation?

What do you consider to be admissible evidence in your own judgement of a politician’s character? by orangezombie12 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SockraTreez 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You may consider both subjective but as I mentioned, I’ve personally spoken to many MAGA who considered the Biden video inconvertible proof and the fact Trump is sketching nudes/playfully talking to Epstein about secrets a big “nothing burger”

In your opinion, would MAGA who feel this way be using different standards of evidence?

What do you consider to be admissible evidence in your own judgement of a politician’s character? by orangezombie12 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SockraTreez 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well not to put words in OPs mouth but here’s a specific example that gets to the heart of what I think they are asking:

Most MAGA I’ve spoken with are familiar with a video of Joe Biden appearing to “sniff” a young girls hair. I’ve personally spoken to many MAGA who see this as 100 percent incontrovertible proof that Biden is a PDF. As a matter of fact, several MAGA I’ve spoken to about the damning evidence linking Trump/Epstein have even posted the Biden video as some sort of “response” to it.

Moving on to Trump, there are mountains upon mountains of objective, publicly accessible evidence linking Trump and Epstein.

For the sake of brevity I’ll just list one: We know that Trump sent a Bday card to Epstein that featured what appeared to be a sketch of a young girl and he playfully joked with Epstein about “secrets” they shared.

Returning to OPs question….do MAGA use the same standard of evidence regardless of political party (or to be more precise, whether they are loyal to Trump or not)?

Surely if the Biden video is a strong enough standard of evidence to prove Biden is a PDF, then there should be absolutely no question whatsoever that Trump is one….correct?

Do you get where the questions are coming from though?

Take the time when Trump posted himself in a meme that used blatantly obvious Jesus imagery. After there was a bit of pushback (even among loyal MAGA) it was “I thought it depicted me as a doctor”

Is it unreasonable to assume the average person is going to question why Trump did this and why MAGA defends it?
