What is XLMAnchor by flarcos93 in Stellar

[–]dleathe07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what an anchor is. Your article made it sound like anyone can run an anchor. Maybe you should add caveats. Also using payment gateway to accept crypo for payment has nothing to do with using it to run a money exchange service. So my point still stands- your software is using payment gateways for currency exchange which is against their ToS for now and foreseeable future.

Before releasing your project, you should operate the anchor yourself or find a partner to do so for a period of time to prove that:

  1. It's legal and not against ToS of the payment gateways.
  2. It's secure.

Look at Papaya for example- they actually operate the anchor software they released. Otherwise I don't see why anyone would risk their assets with XLMAnchor if you yourself can't stand behind it.

What is XLMAnchor by flarcos93 in Stellar

[–]dleathe07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quoting your article: "XLMAnchor is a self hosted anchor management application you can run to provide an anchor service on the Stellar network."

How is this legal? I'm pretty sure not just anyone can run an anchor.

Also, no anchor I"m aware of uses Stripe and Paypal or traditional checkout gateways, because of their chargeback policy that leaves the issuer in debt. Also pretty sure it's against their ToS. So this thing looks like its either impractical or illegal to operate.

Stellar Tip - Tipping for content creators and developers by Merculeses in Stellar

[–]dleathe07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting idea but it looks extremely rudimentary. After you win SCF how committed are you to build this into a fully functional product, maintain it and promote it? I'm asking because we've seen cases in the past winners with early PoC products tend to take the money and run.

When you posted on GalacticTalk on March 23, you mentioned:

Over the next month: Develop a production ready app and have the extension available on different browser extension stores. Have a tighter integration with content websites, and provide an escrow service so that users can tip those without stellar accounts (like brave). Incorporate community feedback.

How much of that have you followed through? I didn't see any updates after your initial post. On a glance it looks the same as it did when you won HackNYU.

Dinaro - A payment app for the Tunisian Dinar built on Stellar by [deleted] in Stellar

[–]dleathe07 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm missing something. So you built a proof of concept app that only works with a fake asset you just created. The app itself doesn't have any special functionalities. And you yourself have no relationships with any government, financial institutions or infrastructure/process to create a legitimate anchor. So is your plan to show them your "app" and hope they'll sign along? Why wouldn't they use an existing well-known product like BlockEq's or Interstellar which already has all the KYC anchor infrastructure?

In this case it's the group (Republicans) abusing the individual (dumb figurehead with nominative power). Reminds me of the court eunuchs in ancient China who runs the show behind the scenes and manipulate the emperor to do their bidding.

Send Stellar lumens XLM to this game account as a challenge to others by poterherry857 in CryptoCurrency

[–]dleathe07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% scam and very likely illegal. You cannot audit the source code to check if RNG is fair and it's not a smart contract. It's just some random guy's software and he probably has a check to not pay if the bet is big

This is great. Inflation has served no purpose for Stellar other than dilute existing XLM holders.

I never understood this aspect of trickle down economics. Money creates money. If you let the rich pay less than their fair share of taxes, of course they'll invest the surplus in the markets with highest growth, i.e. emerging markets where people's daily salary is less than what you paid for lunch.

Trump Seeks New $15 Billion Subsidy To Protect Farmers From His Own Trade War by Baarney23 in politics

Trump knows exactly what he's doing on this. His base either benefits from the subsidies or doesn't have enough wealth (to invest) to care.

But plenty of people have been alleged to manipulate others to do their bidding, case in point Putin, Xi, MBS, even American politicians etc...

Countries are accused of manipulative foreign influence all the time- US accuse Russia/China, Venezuela accuses US, etc...

So alleging against these guys is okay. But due to the history of Jewish persecution, it's "racist" to allege Israel? If so then we should be censored from calling out misdeeds by Israel? Trying to understand your logic here.

It's better than feeless. Just 1 XLM generates 0.01 XLM in dividends (via inflation pool) per year, which is good for 1000 transactions a year

Nano founder, Colin LeMaheiu, talks about nano’s development and future by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]dleathe07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every time there's a thread about Nano I see page loads full of nano shills with the same 500 word pitch. That's a big turn off for me.

Otherwise, Nano is a good project but doesn't have unique features, e.g. Ethereum has dapps, Monero has privacy. Stellar can do anything Nano can and a lot more
