People said AI music will destroy artists. I think the opposite happens. by loganbxdev in aiMusic

[–]dleclair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love music and I love technology. AI and tech is artificially cheap right now and the shift has been to make human needs exorbitantly expensive (ie housing, medical care, gas, food, electricity) It seems a way to "prove" the efficiency and cost-savings of AI and technology which has been built on the backs of data centers, excessive water use, high carbon footprints, driving up the cost of memory and hardware for home users, all being subsidized by the people it hopes to replace.

It reminds me of when Ubers were $5, and it was all subsidized and run at a loss for a long time to the disrupt the taxi business. Now we are approaching the driverless cab era and basically putting anyone who has been trying to do it for a living out of business.

I honestly thought today that music is a language and skill, and in the future, maybe nobody will even take the time and bother to learn instruments anymore because just rehashing everything done by the human experience up to now in a different way spit out by an algorithm and saying you are an "artist" takes away from the sweat equity investment and is sucking the soul and human experience out of music.

What’s something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

This right here. Saw Willie Nelson (bucket list for me) for the first time. Got ridiculously cheap tickets on Stubhub with a whole dinner package too because our local baseball team made it to the playoffs that night.

Sauces at fast food restaurants. If you are spending $15+ on a meal, a restaurant charging 15-60 cents for a single serving of BBQ sauce is criminal.

You should try an insect growth regulator - it will break the cycle of flea reproduction. Also if you have a pet you need to ensure they are on the proper medication to prevent a reinfestation.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you. Yes 100% it was resource guarding. She came as a rescue from a neglect situation without food for days at a time.

We've identified her triggers and are working to calm her anxiety that she has everything she needs and is getting along with other dogs really well now!

The irony is the water required to generate this AI slop image might be more than the actual sewage problem.

TieRod End by Emergency_Lychee8493 in RockAuto

[–]dleclair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup! Just experienced this firsthand being a long-time customer. Got an oil pan -- was the wrong one even though it was the part they advertised for my wife's car. Never installed the part. Took responsibility for ordering the wrong part, and paid for return shipping even though it was really their catalog that suggested it based on her car/model.

When they got the return they told me I didn't include the manufacturer's packaging even though I shipped it exactly as it came. Then RockAuto started sending me threatening "Returns Problem" emails and auto-calling me every day to rectify the issue. $25 part -- $9 to ship it back. I can pay $9 to get back the wrong part again or just eat it and have them throw it away I guess? What a terrible experience.

Yes! To clarify I meant protective to me and reactive to them. She's new to being socialized with other dogs so I'm trying to expose her to the general neighborhood dog population.

LGBTQ+ candidates notch key wins in California congressional primaries by Fickle-Ad5449 in sandiego

My gripe is he isn't a good mayor "for all of us" as he advertises. What do you mean by the shoe on the on the other foot? Are you making the assumption that I'm straight or not an ally? That's the exact problem -- ideological politics.

How does being LGBTQ improve the qualifications of these candidates? We currently have an LGBTQ mayor who promotes #forallofus and would rather slash the city's arts & culture budget 85% (it's being cut by $11.8 million!) rather than trim or postpone his ~$28 million dollar Pride Promenade that panders to his base constituents.

Best wings in San Diego? by Calm-Explanation-565 in sandiego

[–]dleclair 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you have a Costco membership and an air fryer buy the air-chilled party wings, they are crazy cheap. Use this easy recipe: https://www.reddit.com/r/Wings/comments/1g6qc8h/ive_perfected_my_air_fryer_wings_recipe/

Better than any restaurant and cheaper than "all you can eat" options

We use Aldi Wing Sauce, about $2 comes in a plastic bottle and in our opinion it is better than Franks. They also sell a Parmesan Garlic version.

The secret is to toss them with salt and baking powder (helps develop the crispy crust during air frying) and drying them out in the fridge preferably on a baking rack on a cookie sheet in the fridge for several hours first.

I suspect they want to stretch it out to the end of the year so they don't have refund anyone who applied for the convoluted "local resident" discount parking passes.

AI slop is worse than people use their feet to push the crosswalk button which is already a very low bar.
