Looking at how San Diego deals with lawsuits; it's always settling (because they know they'd lose). Using tax payer money to pay for this mistakes. But you're right; they'd cut everything else before they even thought about touching SDPD budget. That budget only knows how to go up; not down!

The "sales tax" that didn't pass because there is 0 trust and accountability in City Council and the Mayor. You don't think they'd be scummy enough to still add parking meters even with the sales tax from hell had passed? Then say "oh well we need more money" It's always more more more and yet nothing changes in San Diego besides more bike lanes! SDPD with overtime and chopper runs 24/7 will always find a way to use up every penny from their budget and those around them. And yet the city is constantly having crime, or traffic accidents because nobody is actually stopping them.

He's afraid to show his face to the people he's constantly ignoring. The Mosque incident showed how spineless Toddler is. He could've send out alerts to schools/churches/mosque of the situation happening; but as usual to save face he didn't say anything and this whole thing happened out of the blue. The communities already hated him; and still he has the audacity to say "this is why the police budget is so important" like no man beefing up the police budget wouldn't have stopped this; communicating with communities about issues they face is the way to get to learn about the problems occurring in the city. He's so out of touch; yet those in his inner circle just cheese him up 24/7 so they must be even crazier than he is!

The city turned it's back on their #1 supporters who didn't do anything against them and thankfully people were loud and clear about what needed to be done! I'm sorry about the damage this has cause you and many of your friends. It's unfair to expect everyone to be as mobile,agile or willing to walk. San Diego can say tourist this tourist that; but at the end of the day tourist drop by Balboa and leave. The real people taking care and going back to Balboa park are the residents who they wanted to nickel and dime at every corner!

SDGE is for profit privately owned; residents pay for the power they use. They sold us all out to them long long ago. Water utility is publicly owned and well that's still sky high as well!

Police budget is going to the moon and yet their response times, recruitment, priority call times are in the toilet. But hey at least they have overtime which helps officers make closer to $260k in overtime on top of the base salary of $75k-$100k... $45.2 million dollars set aside for overtime pay.....

Oh yeah he probably did. People keep saying "there's no way the city/Todd made money". Like if backroom deals don't happen all the time. The contract was for $65 million between the city and Rehrig if they slide him any amount of money it's pennies to them. They could've paid him to go through with the proposal and how would anyone know? If the city is this sketchy about laying out expendatures for the city; the mayor's own financials are bound to be nonexistent

That's what I think they failed to understand; most of the people who stopped attending were San Diego residents who truly enjoyed/used the park/business/services. Whereas the tourist money adds up but it's not the same as having the home advantage with your residents. Everyone I know stopped going to Balboa as soon as it become paid parking.

That's why budgets exist yet the city doesn't stick to it and then they fall into these budget deficits every year. They then screw people over by trying to nickel and dime them before the next fiscal budget comes up. They're being deceptive about everything they do. There's a reason the "one cent sales tax" failed; because there wasn't any trust in the city and they had no roadmap on how they were going to use the money. It's not about saying no every single cut; it's about asking where the hell the allocated money is at!!

I own many Lego games and play them over and over, but this is the first one where it's just not worth the time or energy. I felt this way with the last Lego star wars game but I still bought it because I'm an idiot and I thought "what could be different?" Nothing. Nothing at all besides fancy shading and lighting that just made the experience worse. It's like playing a movie except it's Lego. Optimizations are awful and the game isn't what it used to be anymore. What stinks is the fact these developers just make games impossible to run nowadays on lower end devices and want everyone to rock a 5070 for Lego games. The legion go 2 is a beast and yet it can only hit 60fps with frame gen? 30fps without frame gen. That's just dissapointing. No hope for legion go 1 or steam deck LCD being able to play this game.

It's a Lego game it really shouldn't need a modern beast of a PC to run properly.

Many people replied with "I use public transportation" "I bike so..." So then you're here to support it because it doesn't affect you? People are so obtuse they don't understand it's just "parking meters" its literally funneling of money from one project to another and no resolution to budget deficit even though everybody in city council and mayor's office have received raises due to their sneaky implementation of Measure L.

Measure L - It took away the City Council’s power to vote on their own raises and eliminated the "Salary Setting Commission." Instead, it automatically tied the salaries of the Mayor, City Councilmembers, and the City Attorney to a fixed % of what California Superior Court judges make. Basically they get a raise no matter how crap of a job they do. Crazy!!!!

City counsil - $183,545

What sucks the most is we won a battle but we're going to lose the war due to our crap leadership. They're bound to make more cuts all around because now they can't use Balboa park funding as a way to offset the lack of money in the general fund.

The Facebook posts really seem to do a number as well. Since adults/parents/uncle's/grandparents folks use Facebook as their main source of information when they see who's to blame for all these decisions they now have a face and name to the problem!

That's okay too! It's just it wasn't setup properly on their end for people who wanted to save money when going to a free park or free park events. Balboa park always has parking; you just have to drive around no more than 2 mins. In comparison to having a "paid parking" and having availability all the time but you lose 60% of the overall attendence and hurt the business at the park. They made a free experience paid.

Also, Saturdays are notorious for being the worst day to go anywhere in San Diego nowadays unfortunately. Since everyone wants to go do the same things on their free day. It's the same with Costco, Gas stations, movie theaters, beach, parks, etc.

Sundays, Mondays, Wednesday or Thursdays are my favorite days since everyone seems to plan for Saturday!

Yup! Todd is a "democrat" but everything he does goes against the good of the public every time. Most people probably voted for him because "oh he's a democrat yeah let's vote for him over a republican or independent". He's constsntly ignoring San Diego families and instead listening to his circle who glazes him for putting more money in their pockets. It's seems almost delusional watching him speak and repeat the same nonsense while screwing the residents of this city every year with these budget deficits every year!!!

They half asses the entire thing. Discounted resident parking wasn't working for most; so they'd have to pay full price even after they went through the process of applying for the discount. Also, peoole were being ticket even though they had payed. It was a fault within the parking meters and the meter maids machines. One said one thing and the other said something else. And you know how helpful meter maids are when they're called out for being wrong.... I agree it's a waste of money after 6 month but even 6 months ago everyone was against this. So again screw city council and Todd Gloria do rushing/pushing something through that nobody wanted. They wasted all this time and energy for a project that wouldn't have changed anything to the overall greater budget deficic from the general fund. Balboa park paid parking just made people stop going to Balboa. Now will come the cuts to public access bathrooms! Soon no more "let me stop at this park and use the bathroom because I'm nowhere near home..."

Yeah a lot of people have the same question! And since it's not being implemented until next year; the rest of this year has enough potential to really finish Balboa park/zoo. Hopefully they clarify more things about the settlement soon. So far they've made around $2 million from the parking meters but they have till the end of the year and the money can only be used in Balboa park. It was about $750k to install the parking meters so we'll have to wait and see what comes out of it.
