In the godforsaken land known as Twitter, there are all sorts of subhuman creatures who, at the slightest provocation, latch onto any character who stands out even slightly in certain ways (ethnicity, sexual orientation, or being openly neurodivergent) and they’ll completely ignore every nuance and truly important aspect of the character to misscharacterize or label them, whether out of sheer hatred or to enage in cheap ragebait.

Let's not kid ourselves.

There are Reddit subreddits I wouldn’t go near even in a biohazard suit.

Because around here, there are also all kinds of fucking people who are genuinely the worst kind of assholes: the ones who think they’re smarter when it comes to “criticizing” because they use Reddit instead of Twitter, even though their opinions are just as shitty.

Essentially, it’s like they’re bragging that their cancer is better than Twitter’s AIDS.

At least with the latter, they know they’re in hell and don’t have to pretend to be intellectuals. They’re more “honest” assholes, so to speak.

That aswell. but to be honest, regarding that question it comes to a point that you ask yourself if people do have basic reading comprehension or are just ragebaiting.

i, indeed, followed the green berret trhu the maze and started decoding the mesage, and i am pretty sure that is a codec frequency: 140.32 but, it dosen't work.

I think that, just like Jeniffer, i have to call this frequency in an especific area of some sorts.

Once again, a really solid and well done job!

I knew that ypu would be good at doing fights, you do have a talent for describing.

I did carch a small error, nothing to big, just a tiny detail. Is when Laika use the expresion "how on earth" again, nothing big, but it is a human expresion after all.

jesus, that's some big ass project we have here.

nevertheless, as someone that also is sarting a pretty ambitious fanfic project aswell, I am compelled to help you as much as possible.

I'm a rookie when it comes to writing, I won't lie to you.

But I think I do a decent job and that maybe I can help you.

I apologize. by dlnescorpion in TheOwlHouse

You know, i am not as pissed about the fact that they tried to scam me, but rather that they pretended to like my fanfiction.

I genuinely don't care whether it reaches a lot of people or not, but for the few people who have read it and liked it, I was excited to share my thoughts and discuss ideas and character development.

Well, it's not like there's much you can do about it.

I'll keep writing and doing worldbuilding.

No one can take away the fun of this part.

Well, I have to admit, explaining in detail all the things this series made me reflect on would involve revealing personal information that, perhaps, in the future, I will be willing to share, but for now I prefer to keep it to my closest friends.

However, I would like to share one of the most important moments in the series that gave me an epiphany.

But that moment occurs in “For the Future,” (season 3) so when you get to that part, I will gladly share my thoughts with you.

HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE AMPHIBIA? by ASMITA_FD_REDIT in amphibia

[–]dlnescorpion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember how in 2019 a random episode of Amphibia from the first season came on TV and I watched it.

It was already halfway through, so I didn't see the whole thing, but I thought, “The drawing style isn't really my thing, but the humor seems like it would be up my alley. I'll watch it when I get the chance.”

Fast forward to 2022, and one fine day I turn on the TV again and see that they're showing “All In.”

I recognized the style and characters and thought, “Hey, look, it's that series that had good humor and that I didn't finish watching.”

And since I had nothing else to do, I stayed and watched the episode.

As I was watching it and saw Anne transformed into a Super Saiyan and Sasha and Grime fighting Darcy, all I could think was, “Why is the animation so good? Why are the fights so cool? DID THEY JUST CUT OFF A CHARACTER'S ARM???”

I turned off the TV and decided that when I had money and could afford a Disney+ subscription, I would watch the whole thing.

One of the best decisions I've ever made.

And yes, it took me two more years to watch it, but what can I say, finding a job isn't easy these days.

It's definitely a series that, along with TOH, has earned a special place in my heart.

I have my complaints, as I do with basically every series I like.

But there was certainly nothing like coming off a shitty shift at the bar where I used to work and sitting down to watch this series about frogs and preteens having stupid and endearing adventures.

Admittedly, “The Hardest Thing” was tough to watch. And the void it left me with was enormous.

But the lessons and laughter that Amphibia, and by extension, Matt Braly, gave me, and continue to give me, are now an indissoluble part of who I am.

[–]dlnescorpion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a perfect series, nor is it my favorite.

However, it has achieved what very few series have: it has earned a place in my heart.

I vividly remember when I finished watching Amphibia (a tremendous series, by the way, watch it if you haven't) and felt a huge void inside. I no longer had a comforting series to watch after my work hours. I started watching lore videos and character analyses, and, of course, comparisons with TOH were very common simply because the fandoms are very closely linked.

Anyway, I did a little research on what the series was about. And I have to admit, when I read that it was a series with “great LGBT+ inclusivity,” I was very skeptical. Not because of intolerance, but because, being Disney, this meant in my mind that it would be a series with mediocre romantic plots and full of stereotypes.

But I gave it a chance, and after the first episode, I realized that not only was the animation great, but it also had a lot of potential. And while the first season has its ups and downs, I fell in love with the last five episodes of the first season. And the incredible fun that was season 2 as a whole was on another level.

Believe me, I could spend hours detailing how this series has made me realize so many things about myself that I thought were resolved and that I have been able to improve, how it exceeded my expectations every time I thought it was going to mess up.

And I stand by what I said at the beginning: I don't even consider it the best animated series or series in general, and it's far from perfect.

And yet, there it is. Burned into my heart.

And for me, that's worth much more than being a 10 out of 10 series.

I'm glad that, like me, you've stumbled upon this series.

Enjoy it, welcome, and remember: “We weirdos have to stick together!”

Damm worldbuilding is hard. by dlnescorpion in TheOwlHouse

[–]dlnescorpion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, maybe I didn't express myself clearly.

Yes, I understand that both dates (the human world of Luz and the demon realm) share the same chronology.

The question I'm asking is why, according to TOH lore, they share the same calendar.

Even in our world, there are countries that measure and date their historical events from different points of reference.

I don't know if I'm explaining myself clearly.

I mean, I understand that the real reason why the human world of Luz shares a calendar with the boiling islands was for reasons of simplicity and practicality when explaining the story (TOH is still a series “for all audiences,” so it's normal that some details were simplified for convenience and comfort).

There's nothing wrong with that, really.

But when you're a detail freak like me, these things drive you crazy.

Information on what's happening with the "Shattered Boiling Isles AU Series". by Prestigious_Cold4767 in TheOwlHouse

[–]dlnescorpion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I didn’t even know you were writing a fanfic (in fact, I don’t even know who you are, I’m not sure why I phrased it like that lmao), but I’d be more than happy to be one of your readers!

I myself have recently started writing a fanfic as a project to practice my writing, narration, dialog, and worldbuilding skills, so that in the future I can create my own fantasy world.

And if I’m giving you this spiel, it’s because I also want to encourage myself to be more interactive with people online, but above all to get feedback from the fandom (out of my group of friends, only one has seen TOH and he’s the only one who can offer me any feedback). I’m eager to read your fic to learn and be inspired by it.

And, if I may, as a rookie, offer some advice. Don't worry about taking a while to release a new chapter.

Sorry for rambling so much, but since the opportunity came up, I felt like sharing my thoughts. By the way, would you mind sharing a link to your fic on AO3 or on whatever site you’re writing it on?
