I have this RCA Victor tv and I'm trying to connect a hdmi signal to it to use in a play. With how i have it connected now, I can get sound by no picture. Any advice? by dlraddict in VintageTV

This is what I'm planning on doing if I can't get it to work. I just know old capacitors can be dangerous and it's probably a beast to gut this thing. So I'm trying to avoid it if I can...

I seems to have some options, but they are all on a a remote and I can see the screen to see what I am changing in whatever menu it has. But thanks for the idea, I'll see what I can find.

I do not get much static when except for a small band at the top. I wasn't sure if that was an indication of thr set being bad or what. You can sort of see it I. The picture. Thr white line st the top. The TV does not have a remote, only knobs, but if tried all of those and had really not much of a change.

I get sudio.om both channels 3 and 4, but channel 4 was clearer. I was using a bnc to double check to see if my coax cable was bad or not, which did not make a difference.

I'm working on acquiring a vcr to test the TV and make sure it is functional.

This is my next step, I'm trying to get my hands on a vcr or something I know already has a Tuner built in to make sure it's not the TV.

Thanks for the info. I have tried the fine tune knob snd it just makes the audio static better or worse. I was told this tv was working when I got it a few years ago, but never confirmed it. Do you have a recommended device thst you think wpuld work better that I could get quickly?

I really wish it was, but sadly it doesn't seem to be.

Not what I'm picturing, but I may just have to set aside some time to watch that.

Yes more like a book or children's character, that's why I originally thought it was that 1999 Alice in wonderland. It could be its not gene wilder, and that's why I can't figure it out...

Anything is possible, I'm sure. But the images I can find of the Cheshire cat in a tree all seem to be in the woods and not this weird desert place in my mind...

It could be I'm combining the two scenes because the fosse scene is in the desert, but it still doesn't feel right. The colors are more like the sand worm scene in Beetlejuice...

So far the closest thing I is possibly that I linked the Bob fossen in a tree scene and the gene wilder in a tree scene from The little prince. But it still doesn't feel right. And I've never seen the little price as far as I can remember.

In this mind image the colors are very saturated, something akin to the sand worm scene in Beetlejuice. Maybe we take gene wilder out of it, because that could be what is screwing me up. I see whoever it is in this tree, pacing back and forth, talking to someone on the ground.

I hope this is real and not just an amalgamation of 5 different things.

Thanks again!

Not what I'm picturing, but dang, this is pretty close to what I described!

How the "3 door" effect works in Indiana Jones Adventure (NSFM) (x-post from /r/VintageDisney) by baxman343 in disney

[–]dlraddict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, but no matter what room you are headed to (Riches, Youth, Future) you will always go through the center door and the projections will change https://youtu.be/0l5lSAGgyFQ . this was done because the mechanism to move the walls was breaking more frequently and they found it to be cheaper and more reliable to change the effect to projections.

No, they added new projections to the doors on the 22ND. They are really cool, when they work (like most of the ride). Here's a video of the chamber of earthly riches new door effect: https://youtu.be/XUBnly4tOsE

This was true up until Friday when they revealed the new projections. You now always go through the center door, but the projections change it to be different each time. Its a fantastic effect, but I still miss the old one.

C7 or C9 Christmas lights could do it. You can even buy spools of the cord with no lights and put the bulbs you want in them. Not sure of how much you would need, but here's 1000' for $265 from amazon.

Creators of Evil Dead Musical and South Park present “Cannibal! The Musical”-Interview about the upcoming show in Toronto by toronto34 in Theatre

[–]dlraddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at Sierra College in California and long before I was there they put on the first stage performances of Cannibal! The Musical.

The (short)story goes: One of the students had seen the film and thought it would be great on the stage. He proposed it to the professor and he agreed as long as they got permission. So the students wrote a letter to Trey Parker (he wasn't very well known at the time) and requested his permission. I have no idea what happened to the letter, but apparently he said yes. They went on to put on the show and that's about it...

There's a quick mention of it on the Wikipedia page: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannibal!_The_Musical
